magicmustang Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 (edited) Well, here's a kit I've had in my stash for over 40 years. It's been on the workbench, started and put back up many times. It was listed as one of the most difficult kits in the forum and I must agree. It was frustrating, had very poor fit, most parts did not want to stay glued. I did an engine swap which made it more difficult. OOB mostly (I did add headlights and taillights from the parts box) and I must say I will not do another. I don't remember my Revell Orange Crate build as being this frustrating. I'm glad to be done with it. Edited April 26, 2024 by magicmustang 4

I don't understand how any manufacturer can't be considered about quality control. These older hot rod kits are a blast and I would try to build more if they weren't such a pain. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 That is beautiful! I really love the shade of blue you used. I always had trouble with the 20's & 30's hot rod kits as a youngster. Especially the small, brittle front suspension pieces... 1
Zippi Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Well, after 40 years of on and off it looks like it paided off. Nice job. 1

In regards to Revell kits engineered in the mid-60's, in particular their hot rods, in my opinion it's not a matter of quality control. Speaking as a person that does quality control for a living, their kits were designed with a breakdown of parts to elevate the level of scale fidelity of the parts that as a results makes many of them small and fiddly. As a result it can be challenging to get them assembled cleanly. Gerald, your build came out great. Thanks for sharing! 1
XYHARRY Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Nice hotrod there Gerald, that colour looks great. Cheers, David. ?? 1
