Sad News About SMP Decals

I just learned that Bruce Sadewater, the man behind SMP Decals, has passed away earlier today.

I have no further information, but I would assume that, if at all possible, any outstanding orders will be refunded at some point in the future.

I remember Bruce from the old SLM days. Straight Line Modeler was a hard core drag racing listserv group. Bruce among others taught me a lot. I'm saddened by his departure.

I had ordered some decals early April ,,never got them,,sent emails and text messages,no  reply,,unusual because Bruce usually responded within a day....they showed up the other day with a note from I guess his wife saying "I hope I got this order right,,,Bruce passed away a few weeks ago "

I just ordered a set of decals June 1st through PayPal and it went through, I hope I can get them because I just bought the kits for them!

Sad to hear about Bruce passing. Great guy to deal with. He used to be a partner with Decals By Lucas, many years ago, and I was dealing with them both before he ventured off to do his own, SMP. I just received an Ulrey Brothers Fairlane decal last month. His passing will be a huge loss to the modeling community, as he made decals no one else does, or will.

Dang, I really liked his work. I've had plans for doing a bunch of the cars he made decals for. He will be missed and my prayers will be for him and his family. RIP Bruce you will be missed sir.

It's a sad thing when we hear about any well known cottage industry supplier like Bruce passing.

A mixed bag of posts on here from straight sympathy for the family to those wondering if they will get their order or their money back.

It looks as though his newly widowed wife is doing her best to fulfil outstanding orders considering the trauma of losing her husband recently and having to organise a funeral plus sorting his personal and decal business financial affairs out.

She is having much more to contend with than those of us just buying a few bucks worth of decals. In the grand scheme of things, our model cars are really not all that important.

Sad news indeed! I bought several sets from SMP last year and hope I get them on a model before I join Bruce. Fine products and a wide expanse of subjects.
