leafsprings Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) This will be my third Frontier Resin Big Job build; this time it will be a '57. Cab needed the usual front end adjustments, elongating the front end, reshaping the fenders and squaring out the hood. Under the cab is shortened Mack R frame, the wider tapered out frame fits the front bumper cut outs on the Big Job and using the Dodge L 700 kit for its front and rear axles and suspension. Super Duty engine, auto trans and spoke wheels are from the Ford C series and dump truck bed from AITM. Yes, 3 donor kits plus the resin does add up in costs, but that is typical in any resin build up. Edited May 29, 2024 by leafsprings 1
Jürgen M. Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Indeed. An exotic one too. No everyday truck! Very nice! 1
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Very cool project! I’m looking forward to seeing more of this one. Great work so far. And yes, it always takes several kits to finish a project. I always end up with a ton of spare parts. 1
Rockford Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 What a great looking truck, so typically American. I love the brochure excerpt too, I could look at stuff like that all day. 1
gotnitro? Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Gotta enjoy these older truck builds ! Looking forward to your progress 1
leafsprings Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) Interior complete. Another item that works well is the steering wheel and column from the Revell '56 F 100. Edited May 28, 2024 by leafsprings 1
gotnitro? Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Good looking interior, nice and basic like a work truck would have What color turquoise are you using ? 1

Thanks for your comments, I'm using Rustoleum OSHA safety green. The shade of green looks like the Dept of Forestry green, so this build will naturally be a Dept of Forestry dump truck. leafsprings Posted May 30, 2024 Author Posted May 30, 2024 Little historical note, the Super Duty engines (401, 477, 534) officially introduced on '58 models, however there were '57 prototypes tested in fleets with theses engines, so, my build is technically a F 950 prototype.
cifenet Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) Good setup so far and it is progressing very well. I like the color choice for the wheels and the interior also. Should have that classic look! Edited June 2, 2024 by cifenet 1
leafsprings Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 Dump was a resin piece from AITM. Pretty straightforward, nice simple one piece casting. Painted Dept. of Forestry green. 1
leafsprings Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 (edited) Cab painted Dept. Of Forestry colors. Edited June 18, 2024 by leafsprings 2
leafsprings Posted June 23, 2024 Author Posted June 23, 2024 (edited) Getting close to completion. Edited July 4, 2024 by leafsprings 1
hct728(Bob) Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 (edited) Gotta say I had my doubts about that casting but after cleaning it up, the grille and front details make all the difference! Your perseverance has really paid off, keep it up! Edited June 24, 2024 by hct728(Bob) 1
