Update:

I have everything figured out and paint prepped for my Sedan. Supposed to be getting a serious reduction in temperature by mid upcoming week and plan to lay primer. ??

Checking in everyday to see what everyone else is up to. Great work by all!

I’ll send a cold front from the east coast out to you, we are getting frost warnings!

I’ll take it! We are having our usual September heatwave for a week’s worth of days. Only 104 today but Thursday/Friday was 109. Supposed to be down to 80 by this Wednesday. Perfect painting weather.

We're getting up to 30C today in Winnipeg!

That's 86F.

I haven't worked on my sedan for a couple of weeks, but I'll have it finished by Oct!

Yes, that was an old picture.

I have a "short" list of things to do but it's too long to list here!

LOL

I said I was going to join so here I am . I have 2 builds going on, both box stock. I need to get back into the swing of things before I get too ambitious. The orange one will be done this week. The green one maybe this weekend. And I have third one that I will use the orange crate body, and ardun heads and Scott blower from RmcoM and a quick change. Hope to start posting pictures of it next week. Any comments or suggestions welcome. Thanks Brian

Good to see you and those builds look good

Man those uncut sedans look tall. If ever there is a car that could do with a top chop it is the 32 Fords IMO. Same with 49 Mercs.

I know we all do not have the desire or the skill levels to whack some inches out of the top of a car but 32's just scream cut me, cut me.......

Thank you Bill and the others that left a like much appreciated. Bill and everyone else are doing great things. You should all be proud. Here is my first model completed in about 20 years. Not perfect but I think I can only go up from here. I think I need to get closer for photos. Comments and suggestions welcome my aim is to improve. Brian

The nasty weather has gone away and today was a beautiful 84 degrees. Brought a box full of parts with me to work and got everything for the engine and chassis primed with Tamiya Fine Gray. Tomorrow I’m gonna wet sand the frame with 600 and prime again. Have a restock of Tamiya masking tape coming sometime tomorrow as well. Colors going on next week. For now here’s a redundant set of pictures incase people don’t know what gray primer looks like. ?

But the main thing is that you got to shoot some primer!

Nice. So from what I see we'll have headers hanging from the sides on a blown Chevy together with the frame all from the Rat Roaster with the sedan body on top. Is it going to be chopped?

Yup. Using one of Drag City’s bodies that I mastered. If you go back a page, or two, or three, you can see a full mock up.

Got second build done. Not perfect. I need a steadier hand for my detail painting. This one put up more of a fight than the first. Starting number 3. For Bill this one is chopped not by me. I do agree about the top chop. Orange crate for body. Little mock up of engine. Ardun heads Scot blower and Harmon Collins magneto from RMcoM. His stuff is so nice. Wheels and tires from jays resin wheels. Will keep posting as I go. I am really enjoying building again. Comments and suggestions welcome. Brian

Moving forward. Sprayed the frame and chassis components today. Went with Tamiya TS88 Titanium Silver for the main color. Chosen largely because I had the brand new can on-hand and also because it’s a nice color that should look really nice on a street rod sedan. For the engine I had a partial can leftover of Tamiya TS92 Metallic Orange. I will also use this color to sparingly accent a few other small parts. These are just base coats. Everything will get a healthy coating of gloss clear. ?

Looks great, it took quite awhile to get the steady hands skills, for practice I used to paint the numbers on the sprue trees, sounds goofy but it’s like anything practice improves the skills, try different techniques of holding the part and steadying the painting hand, a cheap pair of reading glasses help( even if you don’t need them, the magnification really helps) I did a stint in the eighties building 1:35 scale military figures so I developed some painting skill there. Keep plugging away Brian  !
