Rockford Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) I can't believe I built this kit originally in July 2020, under full lockdown in the UK. So, no shops etc... and I was a new returnee to the hobby, blind in one eye, and stupid, so I built it pretty much box stock. I've wanted to update it for a long time and rectify some Snapper issues. I lost 10mm out of the chassis a while ago but still felt I could lose more after looking at some K100s on the web. I lost another 8mm this time. I moved the battery box forward, equal to the air cleaner so I could relocate the tanks. Added chrome tank straps from Ali duct tape. Fitted a sliding fifth wheel, bobbed the quarter fenders, added vynil tape mudflaps and deepened the wheel dishes on the tandems. Because the weather is still rubbish, I reverted to brush painting the chassis in Humbrol enamel and the results are pretty good. I've done worse spray jobs! To me it looks just right now. It's only a tiny amount longer than the single bunk K100 I recently finished but you get a full tiltin' Hilton to sleep in. I've used this tractor as a mule for so many trailers so this time I pressed my new Trailmobile dry van into service for him. I love trucks! Edited May 28, 2024 by Rockford Title more accurate 6
cifenet Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Rock on! This is something to be very proud of. Super clean and top of the line work that this truck is showing off your skill very well. Good work, Steve! 1 1
TransAmMike Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Yeah Steve, great job on that big guy ? 1 1
BK9300 Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Steve, you do amazing work on your fleet of 1/32 trucks - must have an impressive display area! 1
Jürgen M. Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 (edited) It's obvious that you love trucks! The way you work a blind man can see that you have quite an affinity to the big rigs! It's always fun to watch you make a great truck out of a 1/32 kit. I've built a few of them and I always had a direct comparison to the 1/25 kits. There was always a huge difference! Looking at yours, there is no difference at all! Edited August 16, 2024 by Jürgen M. 1

Thanks Brian, very kind of you, I don't have much space at all, just one shelf, so my trucks are tucked away all over the place. I'm forever getting them out and putting them away and rotating what I have on display. Maybe that's why I've stayed with 1/32 despite their obvious limitations, I couldn't have more that one or two 1/25 knocking around and they're so fragile they'd soon be wrecked. 1/32 seem quite robust and I take steps to even improve that in the way I mount quarter fenders and build mudflaps. I actually work in a converted cupboard in the hallway of our apartment. Needs must... 1 1
