Anybody mention Van Halen? Panama is like one of his best songs.

Fortunate son by CCR and Tom Sawyer by Rush.

More Than a Feeling by Boston and the solo from Any Way You Want It from Journey.

Oh cant forget Carry On Our Wayward Son by Kansas.

There's so many more but I can't think of anything else at the moment.?

I agree Will.  I'm a former rock band musician and have heard so many great riffs and solos in my time.

And not to be picky here, but a riff is not a whole solo, it just a cool passage in a song or solo.

I hate to tell you all this but Ritchie Blackmore is the best and everyone else is fighting for 2nd place.

Nah, Larry LaLonde from Primus has to be the best guitarist ever. He's kind of a minimalist player at times, knowing when NOT to play as much as when to play. This song needs to be heard all the way through to appreciate his skills.

These guys are just the best period!
