I like the wheels and disc brakes. I use both gunmetal paints for the chassis. Another is TS4 German Gray.

Getting hot here on the Island, humid too. Model work has slowed with the Belair and stuff around the house and garden.

Thanks man.  Yeah, I really like the Tamiya line of paints.  I'm just about done with Testors.  Just takes forever to dry.  I hear ya.  We had a heat index of 108° today but when the storm came through it cooled things down.

Tamiya TS cans are the bomb. But they go on thin and if I have to handle things like a chassis, the paint will wear through. I have not used a Testors enamel in maybe 20+ years. I like the MM Extreme Lacquers, the clear is also excellent.

I hear ya Bob.  Splash paints is what I'm currently shooting through my airbrush for the bodies.  This is my second paint job with Splash Paints and it seems to really be going well.  Their 2K Clear Urethane is really nice as well.  I think I like it better than the Tamiya X-22 Acrylic Clear.

The X22 clear stays soft for too long. I'm lazy plus I don't have a permanent model area, so I use spray cans. I would consider trying the Splash paints if I can dig out my airbrush stuff.

Gotcha man.  I normally let the X-22 dry on it's own for a couple hrs then stick it in the Dehydrator for about 8 hrs.  It's pretty hard after that.

Here's a little teaser fellows.  I do a lot of trial fitting as I have learned the hard way.  I got the rear wheels & tires glued in place and looking good.  The front tires are just setting in the wheel wells but that's about where they will be.  The roof insert and running boards will be rubber black.  The grille, door handles, nerf bars, and window trim will be in the Gun Metal.  I'm shooting for Friday to get the Splash Paints 2K Urethane Clear airbrushed on.

Even the car looks proud of the job you're doing. Gonna be a beauty.

I'm hoping it's going to be a beauty.  Thanks man.

Love the color Bob, another great build! Looking really good!

Yeah, I think it's coming along fairly decent.  Thanks Roger.

While I was at the hardware store yesterday I saw this color and thought it would look good for the interior on the 36.  Now that I've sprayed it and put it against the body I'm not to sure.  I'm now thinking maybe shoot the interior with the Tamiya Gun Metal and then hit it with a Matte clear.

I airbrushed the Splash Paints 2K Urethane clear on the 36 about an hr ago.  Very pleased with how it went down.  Once wet sanded and polished it should look even better.  I'll let this set for a couple days.

Not going to lie...I think that red POPS against the body color. It looks mighty, mighty tasty IMHO. ?

Well I appreciate it DJ but the color has already been changed.

No worries, it still looks good in the tan!

I was going to say the red interior looks good but the tan/brown, to my mind, gives the hot rod a classy upscale look.  Your tenacity with this one is impressive and producing a great result.

Thank's Andrew.  Well, it looks like I'll be able to get this one across the finish line in a respectable time.  I really like this body style but I hate the two piece body.  Wonder if the Monogram 36 kit is a two piece body?

You sure work a lot quicker than I do Bob. I waste more time than that switching glasses and looking for the tool I just set down.? The 2k clear looks great. I’ve only wet sanded and polished a couple of paint jobs and can’t imagine doing it on a ‘36 Ford…I’d screw it up for sure.?

Thank's Greg.  Haha...I do the same.  I probably work quicker than I should.  That's why I get in trouble on my builds.  Yeah, I've learned to stay away from the edges and go slow on wet sanding.  Adding a little extra 2K clear helps as wet sanding will take some of it off.

I'm 90% sure it is. My memory is a little fuzzy, but I think Monogram originally issued that kit as the coupe & convertible in one box, and later re-pops of the coupe came with the two-piece body.

I thought the red interior looked good, but the tan looks BITCHEN! I'm really enjoying watching your progress as this build continues.

Much appreciated Tim.
