Mopar - D Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I’m getting back to my bench from a long absence and starting where I left off with this MPC Plymouth Cuda in 1/25 scale. I’m going to change out the engine bay, interior and chassis with the Revell 70 Cuda’s parts. Similar to my build up of the 71 GTX. It’s going to be painted with Plymouth V2 Tor Red and a White/ Black interior. Not much progress yet but this is where I’m starting. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated and welcome. 8

This should be a great build. The '70 Barracuda was always my favorite of that body style. Something about the single headlight configuration just looked better to me.
Mopar - D Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 Thanks Gary Here’s the 70 interior and chassis on the 71 Cuda. 6
slusher Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 (edited) Some wicked cool baxart on the 71 Cuda box top! Edited June 30, 2024 by slusher
stavanzer Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Boy, those two kits sure fit well together. (at least from here, on this side on the Monitor, LOL) 1
Bainford Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Very interested in watching this build come together. I want to do the same conversion to an MPC '74 Cuda. It's looking like a good fit so far.

When I get around to building mine I’m going to use the Revell 70 TA Cuda that has a 340 engine in stead of the Hemi. 5

Revell has a lot more details on there engine. 3
Mopar - D Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 Built the Hemi and wired the plugs. Did a test fit for the shaker and found that I’m going to have to use the MPC kits Shaker to get a good fit with the hood. 6
Moparman18064 Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Great thread, I’m really glad to see the Revell chassis works. I want to replicate the Cuda I have in my avatar. Engine looks great. Now, if I could only find the twin scoop hood and 73-4 stripes
kelson Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 The Revell kit has the twin scoop hood and Amt offered a 74'barracuda snap kit years ago that had the stripes in white and black.

I have the Revell hood, it does not fit my MPC Cuda. I could trim it, but scoops seem to be out of proportion. I had one of the snap kits, but it seems to have been lost during last move. The decals would be over 20 years old at this point. I was looking for someone making them currently. Thank you for the reply. Sorry, not trying to hijack thread. I am really looking forward to this build. 1
Mopar - D Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 Today I changed out the 70 seats for the 71 seats. The front bucket seats are easy but I had to cut out the rear seat from the 71 interior tub. 7

Mopar - D Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 Seats and sides are now painted and made some progress on the chassis. I’m to do a little red over spray so the parts are just test fitting. I’ve got the body primed and ready for some red paint. Hopefully weather permitting I’ll have some red paint on the body. 4
Mopar - D Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 Thanks Anthony I got my air brush out today and sprayed some TorRed. Also some more work on the chassis. Next will be clear coat. 5

Mopar - D Posted July 9, 2024 Author Posted July 9, 2024 Thanks Anthony I’ve got more details to add to it still. I was able to get some more progress on the interior yesterday as Hurricane Beryl was going over my house. Thank god we did not receive any damage from the storm and the solar panels and batteries have kept the power on. 2
Mopar - D Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 Thanks Rich. I’m still adding some details to the engine bay and working on buffing out the body. 5
