Warren D Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 As of July 2, 2024, Shapeways is closed. Appears they went bankrupt.
iamsuperdan Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Doesn't surprise me. I bought many parts there in the past, but now that 3d printers are affordable and easily accessible, the Shapeways business model just seemed antiquated. Kind of like Blockbuster video. Maybe if they had become more like Cults 3D or CG Trader, they could have survived. 1
Danno Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 True - As of Tuesday 07-02. However, the announcement ended with this sentence penned by their production executive: "Confident about the sound operation and supported by a unified team we are gearing up to restart the business on our own account." So I guess we 'stay tuned.'
Richard Bartrop Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Looks like I picked a great time to give them a try.
mdlbldrmatt135 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Guys, I had a shop on there, but am now printing the items I'd offered myself. Not everything is priced at this point, and won't be unless someone requests me to do so. My list and contact info are Here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554497066587 Matt 1
