Dave B Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 (edited) I bought this file at the same time as the P68. It was a much better buy, value for money. The body, chassis, interior and roll cage are really good but the wheels are BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. While I'm waiting for the decals and glass moulds to finish the P68 I've started cleaning this up and looking for a suitable alternative wheel to fit inside the printed tyre. Lengthened the chassis marginally to correct the fit and done a fair bit of work around the interior/roll cage to make it fit the chassis. I've also found an alternative BBS type wheel that I'm playing with. Now I've got to work out what goes between the interior and the panel that mounts the DFV. It's a fair gap and it actually does exist on the real thing but photos of this area, especially the 4th version that this file represents, are few and far between. It also needs to hide where I lengthened the chassis, senior moment when I did that!! Anyway tks for looking. Dave B Edited July 12, 2024 by Dave B 3
Dave B Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 Ok, made the wheels. Rims are some I cast in resin some time back, centres are from an old Japanese kit but with the back sanded away so you can see through the spokes and tyres are resin printed from the file. As they have turned out reasonable I've decided to open up the engine bay. It won't be hinged, just lift off. My mate has printed the glass moulds for the P68 so until I get them off him I'll work on this. Dave B 5
Dave B Posted July 26, 2024 Author Posted July 26, 2024 Because of the detail that would have been hidden I decided to separate the rear engine cover. Adding a little extra detail will be easier as I have contacted the current custodians of C100-004 and they are going to send me a few pics shortly. Hope I've got the radiators right!! I'll be modifying otherwise. Dave B 2
Bainford Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Interesting project. Very nice work on the wheels. Huge improvement. 1
Dave B Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 I've got the interior and cage where I want them now I have started on the rest. I've cut the part of the diffuser that was attached to the rear body panel and started to make one. Not included in the download file. Also have the glass moulds from Phil so they have been coated in epoxy, sanded down and I've vacformed the headlight glass and side windows. Dave B 3
Dave B Posted September 6, 2024 Author Posted September 6, 2024 Getting there. First coat of white acrylic just to identify the faults. Dave B 2
1959scudetto Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 this looks very good, Dave, and quick, too - while I am struggling with one kit, you have almost done 2 racers in the same time.
Pierre Rivard Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 First shot of paint on the body means we have the kit figured out and successful test fitting of all the key elements. Always a fun achievement. You've got this one on a roll and it looks very promising.
Rich Chernosky Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Really like this project Dave. I am always amazed at how you end up with such beautiful models compared to what you start with.
Dave B Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 Just received this packet of what I use as injection trumpets. Look much better than the printed item Dave B
Dave B Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 Finally got the glass vacformed, the windscreen took about 5 tries before I was happy with it. The C100 is now ready to clear coat so the end is in sight. Dave B 3
MarkJ Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Wow, what a major improvement over what you had to start with and vacformed your own glass. Very impressive. I can already tell the finished product will be astounding. 1
