Is this type of tire still produced for classic cars? Not that I need one now, or ever, but I was just curious if they do because I know some tire companies still make their classic wheels for classic cars; not sure if Tiger Paw does or if they do, not sure if this tire is reproduced. Just because this wheel and hubcap came from my grandfather's 1970 Mercury Marquis; if I were to make a sort of tribute car like his in the future, this tire may be a more authentic choice.

"Tiger Paw" tires were a name that Uniroyal Tire used on their "high performance" line of tires, think Uniroyal Redline tires. Don't recall ever seeing any like this, but this was a time when the tire companies were offering some unique looking tires. There was a time when some of the companies offered different colored sidewalls where you would normally have black rubber and still have wide whitewalls. Gold lines as well as blue streaks from Good Year.

I know on the other side of this tire it is also a thin double white stripe white wall tire; and I can imagine those are easier to find, but I’ll search around maybe just for fun and see what aftermarket tires are out there. I wonder if custom fabricated tires is a thing; using the old one to make like a new one out of it; I have another one off the rim

About the time your Mercury came out there were several different styles if white wall tires from different manufacturers. I think that Ford Motor Company along with Chrysler and a few upscale GM offerings were offered with duel white strips. I don't recall ever seeing the wording and stripe design on your tire, but that doesn't mean they weren't available. The fact that there is two different sidewall designs make me think that this tire may have been a replacement for the OEM tires. Either way this would make some great garage wall art.

It is totally a groovy piece of wall art for a garage, and you're right, this tire (and the other three) were probably replacements for the OEM, as the photo of the car with those tires is from 1975, about 5 years after this car was built, so I can imagine the originals wore out by that time.

I bought a set of new Tiger Paws for my 99 Mustang earlier this year. Too bad they do not have the yellow stripe as my 99 is yellow.

I did an extensive search on the net and couldn't find anything on those tires..... I wonder if maybe they were sold through Wards, Sears or Penny's....

Well thanks for looking into that; can't believe there's no info on the tire; I have this one pictured but also one off the rim, and they must be the only two of their kind left!

I have a crazy thought. One thing that jumped out to me about these tires is that the “tiger paw” is all lower case.

I wonder if “TIGER PAW” was only trademarked in all caps? It could be possible this was a service station house brand.

Take a look at your tire and see if it has any other branding on it.

The word UNIROYAL can be seen faintly on the sidewall in the photo.

A little off the topic of "do they make them still", would this tire have some sort of date code on it, just to see what year it was produced?

Since you apparently have access to that tire, why not write down all the lettering on the sidewall and post it here. Someone will likely be able to understand what it shows.

Good idea except when these tires were made, I don't think date codes were required.

I read over the little details stamped on the tire and the only obscure codes were "1335" and "H78-15"

The H78x15 was the way they stated the tires size at that time. The H designated approximately the older 7.60 size and the 78 was what they call the aspect ratio between the tire width and the sidewall height. The tire tread is 78% of the sidewall height.

In 1976, I worked for an auto parts store that also sold Uniroyal tires. I remember Tiger Paws, but not the yellow stripes. What I remember most was that the Uniroyal tires were mostly junk. We had lots of problems with balance and cord separations. By 1977, we quit the tire business because of all the warranty issues.
