I am a big fan of these.  This one has been on my to do list for a while and a few weeks ago I got in a Corvette mood.  So I started two corvettes, C4 and C7.  I should be finishing up the C4 this weekend and while waiting on various drying times I have started to play with the C7.

The mistake I made before even starting this was buying the wrong kit.  I got a good deal on this kit and then realized after I bought it(two actually) that it has a pre-finished body.  I will have to remove the pre installed glass and will scuff the very shiny body.  But the real down side is the emblems and script have already been applied and I have no decals to replace them once the body is painted.

More progress. The C4 is stalled to due a mishap with the hood and trying to decide how best to handle some missing parts.  So the Aerowagon got the majority of my attention this weekend.

Thanks.  I am a big fan of shooting brakes and in truth all wagons.  Whenever I come across a fun looking wagon I add it to the stash.  When I saw this resin part for the corvette I had to have it.

With the warning about prefinished bodies having the risk of being difficult I extra prepared the body.  320 grit through 600 grit.  Primer.  Let it sit for two days then wet sand 2000 through 6000.

Put a coat of paint on it this afternoon and I like it!  The metallic has a bit of a shift to it so not always easy to pick up the green.

This on is on a long hold.  I decided I can get the front emblem decal from the new C8 kit.  I am waiting for those to be back in stock before I move forward.  But, if I slow down to think I think too much.  Looking at the body I am not as happy as I would like to be with my scribing of the panel lines for the new hatch.  So now I am thinking about stripping the body and starting over.  My problem is that I typically hose it down with oven cleaner to strip the body.  I can’t do that on this one due to the body being about 25% resin.  What to do.  So while I debate accepting it as is or trying to figure out how to strip it  I have, due to bad decision making, started 3 more kits.

Decals on the way!  My attention is back on the corvette.  I decided the panel lines I created for the new hatch were not as good as they should be.  So I sanded the body down and re-puttied the joints and scribed in new lines.  I think they look better but the proof will be when the paint goes back on.

I got paint on the body and started some building and painting of the other parts.  This is a nice kit but a very simple kit.  Only 56 pieces.  So hopefully the rest goes together quickly.

Really nice model Steve.

As you like shooting brakes (often called estate cars or tourers) you might be interested in looking at C1 Models website. It is a UK company and I seem to remember them having a Callaway conversion resin for the Revell Corvette I think?
