Leica007 Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Was in and out of model cars for many years. What does the term "annual kit" mean? Is there a dual carb manifold for the Ford flathead? Lastly, does anyone make a realistic copper color paint? I need one that is very fine metallic pigment that I can brush or airbrush. Thanks in advance for the help.
Mark Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Annual kits are the car and truck kits issued each year, when the subject was brand new. Most, but not all, were based on the promotional models that were made for the auto manufacturers and their dealers. AMT, MPC, and Jo-Han made the vast majority of them over the years. There are dual carb flathead intakes in the AMT '50 Ford convertible and '29 Ford woody/roadster pickup kits. One could be made also, by removing the single carb from a stock intake and adding mounting pads for the dual carbs.

For radiator cores, simulated copper lines, etc. I like Rub N Buff But their copper isn't necessarily the best color for copper. 1

It looks like raw (unpolished) copper. Pretty much all Alclad II metallic paints are designed to look like actual metal (not sparkly metallic or "mica" car body paints). They are also airbrush-ready. Claude Thibodeau Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Hi Sir! Tamya has an acrylic in its X line (the small jars) that's called GOLD LEAF. Depending on the color of primer that's underneath, you may get a satisfactory result. And of course, they also have COPPER, slightly darker. Maybe a mix of both to suit your fancy? CT 1
Leica007 Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 Thank Mark, I appreciate your answer to my annual question and the info on the flat head manifold. I used the 50 ford part on an earlier build, so I'll go with your other suggestion. Lei
Leica007 Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 Bill, thanks for the info. I'm going to be doing all chrome in copper on my build, so I'll need to go with a paint, but I like the suggestion for future projects.
Leica007 Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 Thanks Peter and Claude, I appreciate your suggestions and good info about the products. I'll check them both out. Lei
