TooOld Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Now that's a cool looking custom ! For some reason I've always liked these Thunderbirds and yours is the nicest yet . The tonneau is a cool extra and nice work on the window tint , not always the easiest thing to do . Great job Steve ! 1
dave branson Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Great looking bird. good save , and awesome color for that car 1
Carmak Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I love the use and finishing of the custom front and rear, color choice and application, stance and wheel/tire choice. BUT my favorite detail is the scribed lines for the filler panel between the rear seat and the trunk lid used for 60's T-bird and Lincoln convertibles. Nice 1
drifterdon Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 That just looks fantastic. And you nailed the red line hotwheels vibe. Being a big collector of these when they came out, I'd have grabbed this one up immediately. Great job sir! 1

Two questions, if I may: Did Ford offer the TBird of this generation as a convertible? I don't recall... And are the grille and tailights some kind of "customizing option parts" that came with the kit? They look great! CT Thanks Claude. No, Ford didn't make any Thunderbird convertibles of that generation. '66 was the last year for them until the last generation 2 seaters. The parts were kit custom parts but not for the '69. They were in the '67 and '68s Edited September 27, 2024 by Can-Con

I recently built a 68 Pro-Touring with the roof swapped from a 71 (lower and swoopier IMHO, whose body came from the Model King reissue of the Allison in thunderland fantasy funny-car. There were two grille options... but not as nice as yours! CT 1
Brudda Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 WOW! This is a great build. Love the look, stance, color. Has all of the right stuff. I have judged a lot of shows and this one is a winner in my book. 1

These are my friend Kevin’s cars. But I also have several under construction.

I've actually thought about how it could be done before I started but I don't know if it'd be easier to adapt the convertible bits from a '64/'66 to the '67/'69 or reskin a '66 with the later sheetmetal. The cowl looks the same but I wouldn't know how much of the rest would have been carried over as the earlier cars were uni-body and the later were body on frame. But, yea, I'd love to see someone pull it off.
