Bugatti Fan Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 I keep seeing an advert for a little gizmo that looks like it plugs into a USB port on a TV. It claims to be able to legally access all the pay channels for free as is is designed to pick up a very low frequency signal that all those pay per view channels have to broadcast on to allow the broadcasting authorities to monitor content. Big question. Any poster on here buy one ? And does it live up to all the claims on the advert ?
stitchdup Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 its a scam and if it worked it would be illegal in the same way those code grabbers car theives use are. just owning one proves intent to steal copyrighted material 1
peteski Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Scam. There is no such thing as low-frequency broadcast of digital television. TV video and audio signal need wide enough bandwidth which low frequency broadcast couldn't handle. Broadcast authorities monitoring? There is no such thing (at least in USA), and even if they were there and monitoring, why not just monitor the "official" frequencies. This is so far-fetched, it isn't even funny. Fell free to try and report if I'm wrong. 1
Bugatti Fan Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 Thanks for the feedback guys. Thought it sounded a bit odd. Particularly the bit about it accessing a low frequency signal. Guessed it might be a scam. That's why I put the question out there.
