According to the British motor journalist Giles Chapam the Humber Spectre Mk III was the worst car ever sold. Rootes Motor ltd. wanted to make a quick profit from the "ultra-respectable" reputation of the Humber brand and did a "good job of turning a traditional name into worthlessness. The Humber Spectre Mk III was build from 1967 - 1976. The Spectre Mk III was the only model of the luxuries high end car manufacture Humber that was produced after Chrysler ´had taken over Roots Motor Ltd. It was the high end middle class car of the Rootes Arrow car range (Singer Gazelle, Singer Vogue,  Hillman Minx and Hilmann Hunter) Rootes sold seven different models that shares a common rootes Arrow base. This badge engineering was very common in the 1960/1970 in the Uk.
