hey guys and gals

So, just finished off this fun "little" project - Trumpeter's 350th "H-Class" theoretical battleship. I'm a big fan of WHIFs and this was an opportunity ot do something a little different from the usual Bismarck grey we seem to see a lot of. I was originally going to do a pretty wild black and red style camo, but I happened upon a picture of a WOWS scheme which I thought was pretty cool, so I went with the pattern but changed the colours to suit my own taste.
I hand painted all those little figures on the deck (Tamiya set) with a toothpick and added some ropes and wires etc from the cranes etc - just to add some life into it. The only aftermarket item on this whole kit is the wooden deck veneer. All PE etc is included in the kit which is a nice touch.
Painted in mostly NATO Black, flat red and neutral grey - Tamiya LP and Gunze
Assembly: very straight forward and pretty much all parts fir nicely. There are some seriously small parts in there too - even by my standards.
I thought briefly about adding lights but I just couldn't be bothered - too hard.

I think that's enough pictures. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed building this one. I have the Montana to do as well with all it's PE goodies but not for a while yet I think
As always, thanks for stopping by and having a look

Simon you've done a great job applying your vision to this ship. You're a madman for painting those figures and adding them ,I have enough stress with the p/e railings.

Looking forward to the Montana build !!

Nice build!! I realy like this era ships and especialy the big ones. Never the less that these never existed but they are way cool! I have started Tirpits from Trumpeter over in the WIP section and some parts are tiny! I would like to do a what if as well, what if these where built in the 70's or even 80's. Upgrade everything onboard with modern wepons exept for the big guns and ad other types of fuel, nuclear for example. That would be a cool build! And It would look way different on the superstructure. My thought being like mixing it with this one:

mate - you really should check out this site - it'd be right up your alley ;) I always thought the Lazarev would look uber cool with battleship sized main battery - I kinda wish I hadn't thrown my one out a while ago.

I also like the idea of giving it a WW2 dazzle-style camo - something else other than grey :)

Thanks mate - sorry for the late reply. The Montana won't be for a while yet sadly - too many other things to do before that one hits the bench :)

Simon, I'm not familiar with the actual 350:1 scale aspect......meaning that a pencil or hand or coin of sorts in one of the pics you've shared to reflect the models actual size would be cool to see.   Great looking ship for sure.  congrats on her!  cheers, tim

thanks for your feedback Tim. I'll try to remember to do a size comparison on my next ship and if I have the spare capacity, I'll take an extra shot of this ship with what ever it is I end up using at the time as a comparison for you.
