I’m in the process of building the AMT 21 Charger RT kit and wondering about the actual chassis color. The directions call for an olive color. If anyone has any first hand experience please let me know before I settle for a black.

"Olive" , as in olive green , is likely recommended as a way to replicate the similar-colour primer that's used.

I haven't seen the underside of the newer Chargers, so I can't attest to the accuracy of that callout... let alone knowing how much - if any - body colour overspray there is.

Now that I've seen the picture Bill posted, I'm going to take a look at the Tamiya AS paint line. They have several paints that might match up much better than good old Army olive drab.

Many recent Mopar products do have light olive under panels.

I just had a peek at Tamiya’s AS line, looks like AS29 Grey Green might be the closest with AS14 Olive Green a close second.

I have owned both a '10 Charger RT 5.7 Hemi engine with AWD and my present car is an '18 Charger GT which is basically a 6-cylinder 8 speed auto trans with most of the SRT electronic and suspension features plus AWD. The '10-year model was the Steel Cities Gray body color and the bottom of the unibody was a flat light gray color and the various suspension parts were a natural flat aluminum finish or a light coat of a flat black on many other parts. The present '18 Charger is painted White Knuckle, and the underside is a similar shade of light gray with only a very few hints of white overspray. I don't know if the underbody area color is different on Chargers painted another color than these. Hope this may help with what you are looking for. Maybe find a Charger somewhere and the owner will let you take some pictures of their chassis.

I think you're right. I picked up a can of AS-29 today and it does look pretty close. I haven't sprayed it yet, though. Thanks!

Unfortunately I had to go with what I had on hand which is Rustoleum Moss Green which is pretty dark but I’m good with it. I won’t be displaying the Charger on its roof. I wish I could have gotten the AS29 but there are no close hobby shops and trying to use what is available

If you're trying to knock down the shine a little maybe a dusting of flat or semi-gloss clear would help.

I’m getting old. I read the thread title and thought “There’s no such thing as a 1921 Dodge Charger”.

Something else to consider here is that different computer monitors and screens will display colors differently.

The color looks quite different on my main home laptop and my big desktop screens, for instance.

I got my 2021 Charger chassis painted in Tamiya AS-29 Gray Green. It may not be a perfect match, but I think it's fairly close and looks right to me - at least for the rear part of the picture above.
