Zippi Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 Ok fellows. This is the disaster that struck yesterday. I was trying to figure out how to attach the headlights to the body since my hands were shaking and the tape idea seemed like the way to go. I use a toothpick and put 3 small drop of glue on the back side and that worked out fine on the drivers side. When I got to the passengers side disaster struck. I had painted the headlights gloss black before I airbrushed the chrome on so I'm guessing the glues loosened up the black and it started to run plus my shaky hands help smear it. Now I'm screwed. Looking for suggestion on how to get this Tamiya Gloss black paint off the body color??? 1

Give it time to fully dry, then use fine tip cotton swabs and Tamiya fine compound and just try polish the black areas only off the purple. Go light and slow. If your lucky and the black hasnt melted into the purple too much it might work. 🤷♂️ Get some Canopy glue Bob, its got strong bonding properties, but any mishaps can be cleaned up with warm water. Thanks for the info Luke. I just tried some Meguiar's fine-cut cleaner on a Qtip and it didn't touch it. Also tried some Mr. Color Leveling thinner and Tamiya X-20 thinner with no luck. I'm going to try some hot lacquer thinner. This may take everything off.
Belugawrx Posted March 13 Posted March 13 If it is completely dry, try a little wet sanding with 1000g....looks like you have enough paint to work it a bit

Zippi Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 (edited) Only one thing left to do so I wet sanded it and gave it two coats of the Tamiya Blue Violet. Doesn't look to bad. I just may have pulled another rabbit ouf of my hat. I still have to try and glue the headlight back on. Oh boy....can't wait for that. I think I'll lay off the caffeine for that. TransAmMike Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I've already shown you this Bob, but for others, I use this gadjet to place small light parts (emblems, lenses). The tip is a hard wax and parts stick to it.
