evilone Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Ok i have a project called "THE DON" in the workbench section. Its gonna be a mob boss's car so i need to put a victim in the trunk. Now my questions are: 1: do they make figures that look like a mobster from the modern days? 2:do they make figures that are laying on their sides in a fetal possision? 3:how would i replicate bullit shots through clothing to look like a real shot? 4:how do i make a bed sheet to put the body on to keep the trunk clean?
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) You may have to bash a figure bro, get the doctor Spock kit! as for the bullet holes, maybe a pen drill?(like the small drill bits?) then after you paint it fill in the hole with red? instead of a blanket why not a tarp? ive heard that you can make those out of masking tape. Brian Fishburn Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 If you have to modify a figure to get the pose you want, keep in mind how the human body bends. In most places, you'll want to pie cut the joint to make sure the limbs don't end up longer when bent. Ken Hamilton did a great article about this, but then again, doesn't EVERY discussion of how to do something to a figure come back to Ken? I'm not too bad at figures, and I attribute 85% of what I know to Ken. For the record, the remaining 15% breaks down as 13% trial and error (emphasis on the error) and 2% dumb luck. As for the sheet, you might try a piece of tissue paper. wet it with thined white glue, and get it in the position you want while wet. When it dries, it will be fairtly stiff and will take paint well.
84vanagon Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Evil, you are one sick puppy! Jimmy Flintstone offers a bunch of figures that can be modified. Check out Squadron Hobbies for painting figures books. Also remember blood tends to turn a more rusty color the drier it gets (did I say that)!
Abell82 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 They have recently started re-releasing the 3 in GI JOES. I bet you could find one of those, and paint it to look like what you are looking for.
SSNJim Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I would try aluminum foil for clothing and sheets. It should be thin and tough enough, plus it should wrinkle fairly realistically.
roadhawg Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 instead of a blanket why not a tarp? ive heard that you can make those out of masking tape. I think he's on to something here. It might be even more interesting to see not a body, but the IMAGE of a body wrapped in a blanket, with blood seeping through. Oh, btw....you KNOW this is disgusting, right?

dwc43 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hanky would work good too. I just took one and painted it green to make some canvas and some stretchers for a military project I am working on. They come on white, so they already look like bed sheets and have design lines in them. They stiffen up when spray painted too.
nitrojunkie Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Make sure you don't forget the bag of lime that should accompany the body to its final resting place.
LDO Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Unless you want to replicate an entry would from a 40mm grenade, you might just skip making a bullet hole. Many hits are done with a .22, and that hole would be around .009" diameter in scale.
evilone Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 Well thanks for the info im sure there are is more to come(hopefully so i don't get head deep in stuff i don't know about). As for me being twisted, crazy,a sick puppy hay its a wendsday LOL.In all actuality i just want to detail this one as much as possable maybe if i can't find a AK-47 i'll have to scratch build a barett .50 cal rifle then make it look like half the dudes head is gone LOL.
MR BIGGS Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) # 1. Never shoot a person and put him in the trunk. It get's too messy. # 2. Keep him alive, cause someone has to dig the grave. # 3 If you have to kill him and put him in the trunk roll him up in carpet, with scotch guard so the blood won't bleed through. # 4 A bat is the best way to go. you can put one in the trunk next to the body, make it a more mob style kill. Don't ask how I know these things. They sell a garage kit with a few figures and tools. some of them are laying down. You can probobly make them work. Edited April 22, 2009 by MR BIGGS

MR BIGGS Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) You can try something like these. http://cgi.ebay.com/Garage-Figurines-4-1-1...%3A1%7C294%3A50 or these from fujimi http://www.internethobbies.com/fuj124scalme7.html go to horbor frieght and get yourself a heat gun. then you can just add some heat to the figure and make it pose the way you want. once you got the right pose run some cold water over to make it stay the way you like.
