Brutalform Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I finished up the 65 Plymouth white car, and the only thing I screwed up on, was forgetting to install the side windows. At least you can see the interior better, so no big deal. Moving on to the Landy Dodge now. One problem I encountered while mocking things up, was the parachute does not fit right on the Dodge as it does on the Plymouth. Since Landys Dodge has a split bumper and a different chute altogether, no big deal here. A couple pics of the Plymouth. 6
Brutalform Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 I’m really looking forward to building the Landy Dodge. I got a good jump on it now, and plan on painting it Tamiya Gloss Aluminum as it looks pretty good to my eye over gray primer. 5
Brutalform Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Bought some decals from Slixx and will be masking off for the black roof and hood and trunk areas after the silver is laid down. The decals have the striping that compliments the black areas with curved stripes for the hood and trunk lids. 4
Brutalform Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 (edited) I have the body in primer now, with the panel lines deepened. And a few other things completed. The engine had the manual trans removed, and an automatic from the 68 Hemi Dart added. Also got a set of resin rims as close as I could find that look like the real rims. Brutalform Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Removed the chrome from the rear bumpers, and injection stacks, and sprayed them with Alclad chrome. Also plan on adding a more realistic grill. 5
Brutalform Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 The dash has the glove box removed and added some sheet styrene in its place. Will add a couple gauges like the real car has. 5
R. Thorne Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Lookin good. I believe the gloss aluminum is a good choice as it is slightly darker than the silver leaf. 1
Brutalform Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Yea, I tested it on some old styrene, with the gray Tamiya primer under it, and it looks pretty close to the real cars color. It’s the only silver I tried. 1
gtx6970 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Any issues with these kits to build I need to be aware of.? I have the 65 Plymouth AFX kit on the bench for next up to do Paper Tiger 1
Old Buckaroo Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 This will be another nice addition to your collection. The wheels look great and the new grill is just "wow"!!

I have the 65 Plymouth AFX kit on the bench for next up to do Paper Tiger 1 I only built the white car so far, and I have the Melrose Missile all finished except for the blue color on the body and foil, and decals. The only thing I can say is, check the glass, as it goes in from the outside. I encountered a bit of a problem with the foil on the rear window, as I was slipping the completed chassis into the body. Just a quick touch up fixed it. The model will fit into the body pretty tight, so make sure the rear bumper is installed prior to slipping it in. The rear bumper helps support the rear tail light section. I did this without the rear bumper in place, and had to re glue the edges as it tried to come apart. Hope this helps Bill.
Brutalform Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) Also, enlarge these areas circled a little with a sanding stick, or it will not fit flush with the floor. And that will throw the door panels off. Other than that it’s straight forward. Edited December 30, 2024 by Brutalform 1
Brutalform Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Been down with a cold, but I finally got some silver on the Landy car. 2
Brutalform Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 I also masked up and painted the blue and pinstripes on the Melrose Missile car. After foiling and decals, this one can be assembled. The interior and chassis are pretty much finished now. 6
gtx6970 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Those are looking killer. Love the MM car I have a few of the AFX kits in the pile. Unfortunately,,,,,Its gonna be a while before I get too them. I have a few bodies painted for some AA/FC builds to finish first. One I should have done by the weekend 1

I was at the bench just for a little bit today, to paint the black on the Landy car. Had to sand a bit of debris out of the trunk, and shoot it again. Hope you can get started on yours soon. After these I just would like to do the Strickler Dodge, and possibly the Golden Commandos copper car like the box art. 1

I should have the Melrose Missile done tomorrow, and then onto the 65 Landy Dodge. I just want to do the Strickler car, and that’s pretty much it on these for now. I have to get a next gen nascar build done for my brother in law. Hopefully after all that, I can get some old WIPs completed.
Brutalform Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 Worked on the Landy AWB, and I assembled the chassis and engine, and suspension. Trying to get the interior looking like it does on the real car. I probably should have built the entire cage from scratch, instead of building off of the kit roll bar. 1
