On Sunday I'm heading own to the US for a week for week.

Dividing my time between Fort Collins, CO and Cheyenne, WY.

Anyone know of any good hobby stores to check out while I'm there?

Not sure on a bona-fide hobby shop.  But both Cheyenne and Ft Collins have a Hobby Lobby and Next week will be their 40% off promo. They do that every other week and this is the off week.   Denver use to have some great Hobby Shops once upon a time but I stay as far away from that place as I can.

Have never been to a Hobby Lobby, as they aren't in Canada.

40% off I like though. Will have to check one out.

Our Michaels stores do the 40% off thing, but their model selection is weak.

Laramie , 60 miles out of Cheyenne has Train Service Junction - I'm not sure what they carry but their add says "Hobby & Model Shop, Arts & Craft Supplies"

You can take Hy 287 out of Laramie to Ft Collins and its way better scenery than I-25 from Cheyenne to Ft. Collins, probably less traffic and smoother road also.
I will call the shop in Laramie tomorrow and get a run down on what they carry.

Dan, I tried calling the place in Laramie, just got a message machine. Looks to be only open by appointment.

Meanwhile while you are in Cheyenne - I highly recommend the Union Pacific museum. Upstairs there is a model railroad built by an old cowboy (Harry Brunk) over the span of decades. Its modeled loosely of the old Colorado Southern narrow gauge line in the early 1900s mining era.  Even if you are not into model railroading this is a sight to be seen as it is all pretty much scratch built.

I actually had zero time to get to anything fun!

Was in our shop during business hours.

And now I've been stuck in Sidney, MT since Wednesday, awaiting a border issue to get resolved. End of October, some new regs came into effect, and now I need to set my company up on this new site. So I've been waiting since Thursday AM. ANd the CBSA office isn;t open over the weekend. Let me tell you, Sidney in January is not the greatest place to be stranded.

There used to be a great hobby shop in Greeley that I used to visit 20+ years ago.   Don't think I ever went looking for shops further north.

Dan no place in Montana is good in Jan or Feb..

Since you are in Sydney - there is a great hobby shop (or was) called Ribbon & Rail on main street.  Its a cloth store of sorts on lower level and hobby shop upstairs. Mom and Pop place

Colpar is still very good. Don't blame you for avoiding Denver. I think there's a Hobbytown, in Fort Collins, at least there was, last time I was up there. I haven't checked it out, as I was always running a route, at night. If Don's Hobbies was still in Greeley, that would have been worth the trip!

I went to high school in Glendive, so I could feel that pain!
