Dragonhawk1066 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 For my last project of 2024, I decided to give my AMT 1969 Olds 442 W-30 built in July 2020 a quick re-paint. It was originally painted in Decoart Metallic Berry, but I changed it to as close to Saffron Yellow as I could get using Apple Barrel White and Apple Barrel Sunny Day Yellow. I cleared it with Createx UVLS 4050 Gloss and gave it the wet-sand, polish, and wax treatment. I used Bare Metal Foil for the trim. I did adjust the ride height slightly and painted the wheel spokes in a lighter shade. Everything else was left un-altered from the original build. I do like this new color combo much better! Last 3 pics are the original color. As always, thanks for looking! 9
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Beautiful. And, I thought my green one looked good.
STU111 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I do agree that the saffron yellow looks better, more factory. I love these Oldsmobiles. There isn’t a lot of them down here in Australia, nowhere near as common as Mustangs and Camaros are. Some years ago there was a guy in my local area who had a light green metallic 69 442, but I’ve not seen it in a long while now, hopefully it’s being restored. Thanks for sharing your build, it looks great. I’m currently working on the Revell 71 442 and finding it a really nice kit.
70 Sting Posted January 3 Posted January 3 100% better. Excellent job on the chrome trim running along the top/sides of the body. 👌

XYHARRY Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Sorry Craig but I really liked the way you did it the first time. Saying that, it is still a great build. Well done. Cheers, David. 😎👍
Steve H Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Nice clean build as always Craig. I like the yellow better, but I do really like the first colour too. Vinyl top is very well done
