WillyBilly Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Back around 1974 I was given my first model. An MPC Coo Coo Marlin Monte Carlo. I never finished it as my brother took it with him at some point. 49 years later I found one and purchased a sheet of reproduction decals. It is one of my favorite builds. 10 1
bobss396 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Very nicely done. This was the car that Coo Coo won the 100-mile Daytona qualifying race in. He was the only driver that did not make a fuel stop. NASCAR had a canary over it... the next year the twin races were 125 miles. I have a Savinos MC I started a while back and the decal sheet... hmmm... 1
Coyote_6 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Love the nostalgia. Great story and an awesome build! When stock cars looked stock - warms my heart! 🤣 Steve 2
Phildaupho Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Great looking stockcar which you were finally able to add to your collection 1
WillyBilly Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 A few more pics. This one will always be with me. My brother passed away a couple years ago, and I guess that is why I decided to look for and build this kit. 3

Great restoraration and great looking model ya got thar! How many do you want? Lol... they are still around. The Southern Stocker kits had interchangeable nose and tail pieces. It was essentially the same kit for the Monte Carlo (1981-ish), the Grand Prix and the Buick Regal. These mainly were short track versions with bulged-out fenders. They would be great for late model builds with wide 5 wheels. All kits had a generic big block Chevy with the distributor up front.
