Gary Chastain Posted March 15 Posted March 15 This is gonna be one of those builds that when finished, you have to sit and stare at it for about an hour because it tells such a good story. Gonna be good. 1

David G. Thanks Dave, I was able to enjoy my time off and get some long over due rest so now I’m ready to get back on my project. Mopar - D Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 With just getting back on this I have a little progress to show. I’m working on the front ramp lifts next is finishing the lower sections of the locking part and getting the hydraulic cylinders built. I should have more progress updates by the end of the weekend. Thanks for everyone’s comments. 3
David G. Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Man that is is tight fit! 😮 It's a good thing that there a space between the ramps for cars with hood ornaments! David G.
Mopar - D Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 Thanks Dave, one thing I’ve been told is with the older transporters that they could only allow the cars to move 2” upwards after they were tied down.
Mopar - D Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 I was able to get the front hydraulics on the ramp finished. Next will be to raise the upper front ramp. 3
David G. Posted March 25 Posted March 25 That's a good bit of work Dan, nice progress on this. David G.
slusher Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Dan, you’re making great progress and you’re making it sturdy. Looking forward to see some color on it, I think you made a good color choice! 1

It’s very stiff now so I don’t think I will have any problems with a full load on it. I’m only getting a couple hours on the weekends so my paint is still a ways away. 1
gotnitro? Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Your details are piling right up, the way the kit should've been! Nice work I was staring at my lonely bench over the wknd, then turned the light off..
Jürgen M. Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Amazing! I've never had the nerve to build a car carrier! It's a quite complex construction and I tend to lose the over view on parts and function after a while! My respect to anyone who pulls it through!

Thanks Jeff, I’ve been there to with looking at the bench but now my problem is getting time to go to the bench. 15 hours ago, Jürgen M. said: Amazing! Thanks Jurgen, I have spent a lot of time just looking at the different transporter pictures to figure out how and where to put everything . With this transporter I’ve been looking at the pictures for about a year to determine how I was going to build this one. And I’m still looking at them lol.

I'm already fighting myself through the details of my lowboy and that's simple compared to a car carrier. Keep going. I'm following this with great enthusiasm!
Mopar - D Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 Not to much to show for progress but I now know how I’m going to do the middle bottom car support. 5
AmericanMuscleFan Posted April 2 Posted April 2 WOW, it's all a mechanic to operate this type of car transporter, it's really complex. You are obviously well informed and prepared, great work Dan! 👍 That's a cargo that would be worth a small fortune today with the price of these superb muscle cars. 😁💰
gotnitro? Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Looking good!!! Thats a trailer full of Mopar muscle right there lol

Mopar - D Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 After being away for the week with work I was looking at what I thought would work but would of blocked the access to the front car but after more studying of trailers today I now have a new plan on how to get the middle rack work. It’s a lot more work but I think it will make it work and be correct. I should have more progress updates to show at the end of the weekend. 2
Mopar - D Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 I’ve worked on the upper front support. Next ramp will be the lower middle and I’m going to have to make this one movable so I can get the Charger in and out. Again thanks for everyone’s comments. More to come this weekend and on Friday night our HAMS club meeting is focused on bringing your Truck to work on. I think I have it covered lol. 5
cifenet Posted April 9 Posted April 9 It is getting there and looks quite complex too. I would hate to make a mistake loading/unloading cars though, you can easily destroy multiple vehicles very fast. 😁
David G. Posted April 10 Posted April 10 The way you're putting all this together makes it look like it was originally designed like that. Excellent work so far Dan! David G.

David G. Thanks Dave I made some progress over the weekend adding more frame work to support the middle ramp hydraulics. 1
David G. Posted April 15 Posted April 15 That should certainly add to the overall appearance. I'm curious. The kit's representation of the hydraulic lines and fittings doesn't seem like it would be functionally accurate. Do you have some knowledge of how these systems would work IRL and do you plan to model that? David G.
Mopar - D Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Dave checking my references on the hydraulic lines and it’s hard to see them so I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them yet. Today I was able to get some good bench work in. I was able to get the middle ramp built and did some work on the rear ramps. As you can see I now have all 7 cars loaded up on the trailer. Still have some clean up work to do and then start the painting.
