junkyardjeff Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 (edited) Found a hood and some paint that looks to be very close. Edited February 15 by junkyardjeff Spelling
junkyardjeff Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 Now to see if I can get a better match with the paint, what I got is not close.
Bills72sj Posted February 16 Posted February 16 You could go another direction and make the hood carbon fiber via decal with maybe a blower swap.
Mike 1017 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Bill is right about the hood. Even with the correct paint Metallics are the hardest to match up. You can wind up with hood that is too light or too dark All of the body parts need to be sprayed at the same time. Good Luck Mike
Zen Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Kind of looks like a Testors color, can't think of the name of it. Or paint the hood a satin black?
larman Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Maybe just paint the hood flat or semi gloss black? My dad did that when the hood on his real '69 Firebird got damaged and he figured they wouldn't be able to match the paint (metallic green). In the late 60's early 70's the manufacturers were offering blackout hoods and striping from the factory. Your car is not painted a factory stock color anyway, so you could say it was a few years old and the owner gave it a repaint and black hood to make it look more like the then "new" cars.
Tabbysdaddy Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Use the optional hood, and paint it primer gray like it's a fiberglass hood.
