Hello from the Central US!

Well... I hope this post finds you all safe and well these days. For me...I'm a long time fan of MCM and lurker of the forum, and I'm happy to meet all of you.

I'm finally starting to get back into this wonderful hobby of scale models...albeit slowly... after life events forced me to set it aside long-term in 2018.  Now 3 House moves, COVID, and 8yrs later, I'm anxious to start building again, and build my collection back up.
Currently, I'm in the process of getting the workbench organized, and begrudgingly loosening my grip on all of my trusty Model Master enamels I have used over the decades, and transitioning to Atom Acrylics (Fingers crossed) for all of the assorted interior colors I will need. The search for a new idiot-proof paint brand for all the exterior colors and clear coats I will need to acquire, hasn't even begun yet.
As far as modeling subjects, I'm interested in all sorts of things. Hotrods/ Muscle cars/ Pro Street/ Pro Touring and anything Road Racing Motorsports related, SCCA, IMSA, GT, JGTC, etc., from the 1960's to current day is at the top of the list. As a former truck driver, semi trucks are not out of the equation if the price is right.

I don't have much of a collection of completed builds. After building the Sunoco Corvette, I started this 58 Edsel Wagon project back around 2014, but had to shelve it until now.

Anyhoo, I'm very much looking forward to making some new friends, possibly reconnecting with old ones, seeing the talent, being inspired, and exchanging new ideas and techniques. My hope is that you feel likewise.

I'll see ya around!

Welcome aboard Scot.   You will have no problem making friends here.  Just reach out.  As far as a paint line goes take a good hard look at Tamiya. Their TS line of spray cans are pretty much idiot proof. Many users here on this forum.  I've been using them going on 30yrs now and no complaints.

Welcome to the forum Scott. Really like what you have going with the Edsel. Who offers that body? Is it cast resin or printed?  Jim

I *believe* it was made by Hendrix Manufacturing. But from what I have gathered through searching, they are no longer in business.

Welcome to the forum, man; by the way that’s one helluva custom Edsel project you got goin’ on there can’t wait to see it finished.

Thanks so much! I'm stalled on it at the moment for a couple of reasons.. One being a suitable powerplant. I definitely like the look of the Shotgun Intake, but I want something along the lines of a modern EFI 429 or bigger, but totally doable in 1:1. I'll have to re-measure, but if I recall correctly, the AMT Edsel's engine bay (as it is molded) is actually quite 'cramped' for anything bigger than say a scaled 302/351.  But I really want to retain the 'stock' engine bay appearance.

My modified 'Cowl Induction' Edsel hood got damaged during a house move. Probably fixable, but would be much easier just to start over with a new hood. Need a source for the hood without having to buy an all new kit.

Not sure how I'm going to tackle the interior aft of the doors. Thought about hinging the doors, but that would be a tremendous amount of challenging work from my perspective. As far as the 'bed' area...  Adding additional seating? I also thought about possibly a nice wood floor from the trailing edge of the door sills back, mimicking the the panels on the exterior. But, at that point, I'm venturing into uncharted territory, hence my hesitation.

The chassis pan has already been modified. I made cut outs for the NASCAR style large oval shaped,single-tube exhausts that will exit through the side of the car in front of the rear wheels. Prob going to be using either brass or aluminum tubing. Most of you will probably recognize the bright green parts I used from the 67 Chevelle "Max Rat" Pro-street, rear end and 4-link. The plan is to have IFS with coil-overs and massive disk brakes all the way around as well.

@pulln4dejr @Street Rod Thanks so much for the warm welcome and your interest in the Edsel!

It is getting close to being front and center on the bench.  I'm in the process of re-aquiring.some things that somehow, inexplicably got misplaced during a recent house move. I have a new resin printed Ford 'Godzilla' motor for it,  but it's intake set-up is quite different from what is pictured. After buying it though, I may not use it, because the Blower and Shotgun intake combo, just looks way too killer to not  use! 😁. So... looks like I need to go find those items.

In the meantime, after being away from the hobby for nearly 10yrs, I started working on a AMT 32 Ford Vickey custom to dip my pinky toe back in, to get myself back in the the mojo so I don't get overzealous on a major project like the Edsel. I don't think I will be able to replace the body if I screw it up.

Thanks again for commenting!!

Great to hear from you! I can’t wait to see your progress on the Edsel, should be awesome! I used to spend a lot of time over on the “Randy Ayers Model Forum” but dropped off when he went on Facebook (I don’t do Facebook) so I found my way here. Bunch of great people here as well! So looking forward to seeing your builds and stay in touch.

Ha! I absolutely feel you on the 'no Facebook'... I terminated my account recently as well. I hope you enjoy the time you spend here.
