Dtimmerman89 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I just started this consignment build for a buddy that beat his second bout with cancer and just getting back to modeling after a long break. I hope this inspires him to get back to where he was before the battle. This GT350R replica will be period correct in every aspect, trying to replicate every little detail my hands and eyes can muster. There will be quite a bit of multi media going into it. Scratch building, 3d resin and some photo etch to tie it all together. I'll add photos as I progress.
NOBLNG Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Welcome to the forums Daniel. Looking forward to seeing your progress.😎 1
Dtimmerman89 Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 I got some work in on the engine. 3d printed carburetor and scratch built oil breathers. 5
vamach1 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Welcome and prayers for your friends. Looks like you are on the right track with the build. Bill Geary aka MrObsessive built thisGT350R 30 years ago before 3D printing and the wide availability of aftermarket resources we have now. 1
Dtimmerman89 Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 Thanks for your comment and sharing that, as well. I am going to try and make the velocity stack out of aluminum can and will be using miliput on the supplied seat so it's accurate. As far as this Monogram kit goes, it's pretty dang close and won't need much other than detailing. I might throw the front and rear glass in my vacuform to give it the proper polycarbonate look with .010 clear sheet.

I am not doing anything super specific. He gave me a kit, aftermarket decals, and a bunch of resin parts. I wasn't tasked with finding a specific reference to replicate. I am just going to work with whatever I was given. If it were my personal project, that would be a different story entirely.
