‘61 Thunderbird custom - John D‘Agostino‘s Firestar

Hi fellas,

again I tried to replicate a John D’Agostino built custom car in scale, the Firestar, a ‚chopped ’61 Ford Thunderbird:

I must confess that I wasn’t successful as I was in previous  attempts to rebuild famous kustoms. Paint scheme, roof and taillights aren’t 100% correct but it’s done now and I can apply myself to new projects.

I used AMT’s ’62 convertible kit and a modified and a chopped Monogram ’58 T-Bird roof, lowered and shaved the body, reshaped the rear wheel openings and modified the wheels, taillights, steering wheel and wiper mounts with bearing balls of different sizes. I also scratch built hood peaks to simulate a ’61 hood.

Engine was wired and topped with a parts box air cleaner.

Like I said, my Firestar my not be a show winner but still a nice addition to my ’61 Olds Golden Starfire and ’68 Buick Pantheon. I plan fo build more D’Agostino creations in the near future.

Great looking model of the real car. The paint colors look the same and the chrome trim and body mods all look great.
