Built the chassis today

some observations to get chassis to fit in car:

the 1.5 mm holes need to be fully drilled to place pieces m8 and m9 to bury them to the bend point

I drilled the 1.5 mm holes in m3, m4 and m5 after securing these parts to the main frame brass tubes

I substituted smaller diameter brass wire for the 1mm metal rod that needs to be bent.  Much easier to get precise bends

Will follow your WIP with interest - I built mine 35 years ago simply out of the box - had to restore it last year.

Like Helmut I built mine 30+ years ago.  It's a good kit for its age.

I'll be following.

Nice color ! Is that Tamiya...Mica Blue...or something else ?

Tamiya metallic blue (TS19) from can over grey primer.  Actually lays down nicely from the can

Thank you for sharing your build! Really nice work! I really want to build one of these kits, as the Cobra Daytona is my 'all time' personal favorite.

Since the the historical 1:1 cars are a couple thousand bucks outside my budget, the Factory Five Type 65 is the go-to on my 'bucket list'. 😎

Until that glorious day that I take delivery though, and unless Scale Motorsports (C'mon Matt! You know you wanna!) re-releases their kit, I'll be building one of these Gunze kits to satisfy that goal.

Are there any other build notes you care to share?

I fit the I interior into the body and then glued the frame to interior.  Knock off pins for the wheels need to be trimmed a bit.

kit decals kind of fell apart on me despite pre coating with microscale liquid decal film. Ended up substituting a set of vintage racing miniatures decals and Le Mans decals that I bought a while ago.

I glued all photo etch pieces with microscale micro Kristal klear

Recommend xuron photo etch scissors to cut the photo etch parts.  The cut right at the attachment point and the pieces don’t go flying

Useful tools

I use the godhand clippers all the time now to finish plastic sprue removal flush. They were expensive but makes part clean up much easier

the rest I use for photoetch
