BIGTRUCK Posted April 21 Posted April 21 This mock-up is a JimmyFlinstone resin body , the rest is a Frankenstein parts lot. Most of the chassis is from the MPC Flip Out Mustang with AMT AWB rear suspension, the front suspension and frame are AMT RatPacker and engine is 427 fuel injected from AMT Mustang GT funnycar. Tires / wheels are parts box. Drivers area is moved back away from normal dash location. Hood cut open and not sure if I will leave it off or modify and reuse, rear wheel wells opened up. Long way to go and more parts to locate.. 5
TarheelRick Posted April 21 Posted April 21 With an SOHC it has got to be righteous. Looking forward to what you do with this one.
TECHMAN Posted Sunday at 12:11 PM Posted Sunday at 12:11 PM Sure like where you're going with this one!!! Gassers are just SO COOL!!!! DJ
BIGTRUCK Posted Monday at 10:32 PM Author Posted Monday at 10:32 PM Got the hood to fit back in by building up with plastic strips and sanding. I will need to cut a hole once the engine is in for the stacks to fit .Chassis painted and final stance achieved, back down ,front upwards. Body color still not settled. 5 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted Tuesday at 01:24 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:24 AM Looking good. I've started to do something similar with that Flintstone piece several times, but always put it back in the box, eventually bought a cheap damaged diecast as a starting point. Looks like you're well on the way to having a great little model.
rv1963 Posted Tuesday at 01:02 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:02 PM You have a very cool build going, never would have thought of using a Studebaker as a gasser.
Bainford Posted Tuesday at 04:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:09 PM This is looking cool. The Stude makes for a surprisingly good looking gasser.
bobss396 Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM I'm liking the look. What did you use for a chassis?
Zippi Posted Wednesday at 11:22 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:22 AM That chassis is looking pretty nce for the ole Stude Gasser.
BIGTRUCK Posted Wednesday at 10:10 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 10:10 PM Interior mostly complete, engine mostly complete, hood opened up for injector stacks to fit. Next I need to make a template for the windows then turn to smoothing out the body for paint . I would like to open up the 2 small grilles but dont want the take away from the center spinner grille. 2
