wrenchr Posted April 21 Posted April 21 This is an old project I started about 4 years ago and I stalled out making the rear floor pans and I got back on it this weekend and made good progress. AMT corvette is the frame and middle floor pans, took 2. Thanks ollies!! I need to add a few more body mounts and I already installed down tubes in the front chassis just no pics. I used a amt ford falcon gasser for the rear wheel tubs and front cross member for the suspension. 8
Zippi Posted April 21 Posted April 21 That's going to be a Bad looking 62 Cutlass Gasser. Looking good so far.
wrenchr Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 A few more pics with my rambler gasser that is almost complete. 7
dragcarz Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Wow Jason I love what your doing here! Nothing better than to kit bash ! Looking very cool!
rv1963 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Don't see a cutlass gasser to often, looking really good so far.
wrenchr Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 Thanks everyone, My biggest issue is seeing a project through. I just spent a little time wet sanding the floor boards. I still need to figure of the engine before I can get the frame in any kind of paint, ideas? I was thinking the hemi from the miss deal kit? I know I have one somewhere
wrenchr Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 I looked through my stash and realized I have about 8 LA Dart kits so that will be the Hemi I use, the torque flight molded to it leaves much to be desired and I have a torque flight from a turbine car parts kit that will graft to the bell housing. I will update pics later, I know I'm going to need to open up the firewall to get the engine back.
W-409 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Great looking fabrication so far, keep it up! It's always a pleasure to see an uncommon kit being built into something different, so a big thumbs up because of that, too. As a Rambler guy, I really like the Rambler Gasser as well. 1
wrenchr Posted April 28 Author Posted April 28 I went a little wild last night with drive shaft loops and bracing. The center of the frame I used round styrene. I'm mocking up the front suspension next then the chassis will be painted. The rear traction bars I had inspiration from the Ford Thunderbolt. The interior needs a roll bar then I can paint that and I'm building the engine in between the mods on the chassis. 1
wrenchr Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Front suspension all mounted. I will update with a pic after work tonight.

TarheelRick Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Looking forward to updates on this Gasser, one of my favorite classes of drag racers. I was fortunate enough to witness the Gasser Wars of the late 60's, really awesome. Also like to see different builds for Gassers, too many Willys and Tri-five Chevys. When you get that Rambler done, give me a call and I will bring mine out to run you, of course I will need a bit of a head start, since mine is carbureted. 1
