SuperDave Posted April 27 Posted April 27 My project is a factory stock '66 GTA in Vintage Burgundy. I am looking for details on interior colors. I don't want the all-too-common black, if possible. I think there was a dark red option but I am not 100 percent sure. If there was, I need to know what parts were what color - headliner,, top of dash, seats, carpet, package shelf, console, all that stuff. Also, were the tops of the doors painted or upholstered?
espo Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Try Googling '66 Fairlane and see what pictures they have. I often do just this on any model just to see what has been done on 1:1 car and what the factory offered as well. Your mention of a different colored interior to complement the popular Vintage Burgandy body color you're considering. Remember see many of these that were built with an off white or cream-colored shade that Ford offered that looked nice against many of the colors Ford offered.

gtx6970 Posted April 29 Posted April 29 (edited) Keep in mind interior colors back then were rarely just plain colors. Most have a pearl look to them My 66 Satellite as an example is a pearlescent light Burgandy in color Edited April 29 by gtx6970
Beans Posted April 29 Posted April 29 If you aren't worried about exact color code match, This worked good to replicate that sheen as mentioned above.
Carmak Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I spent about 15 years parting out 60's cars as a side gig in the 90's, 2000's. More than once I encountered burgundy cars with gold interiors. It really draws your eye to the interior and you don't have the issue many red on red cars have where the two reds just don't look good next to each other.
oldcarfan Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I no longer have the kit, but I once did a Monogram Mustang in black and used Model Master metallic Pontiac Maroon, I forget the real name, to do the interior. After spraying, I dull coated the whole thing and the metallic part gave it a vinyl look.
