I love the new box art, but...has anything changed except less parts inside? I already have the all American soap box derby version and the derby champions kit II. Being an El Camino owner, I always want more but I need something besides the box to compel me on this one.

About 20% of the kit parts content is different than the showroom stock/derby kit version.  Don't have time to watch the video to see what he said, but as just three examples, this kit has a wood engraved pickup bed floor, mini-tubs, and an electric fan on the radiator ...TB

Thanks for the info, Tim. Definitely tips the scale a little!

Wait...wood bed? I'm probably out. I get that some folks do this but definitely no my cup of tea.

Just look at the video to see what differs between this one and stock, also think his built came out pretty good.

I don't mind the wood bed and the wider "mini tub" inner panels... You could add slicks and mags from another kit out back.. I never did like those ugly mags and tires from this kit..🤢

I have the older release from the 2000s....

It has a Nifty Blower for the Big Block, too.

So this is an Custom Version, and the Soap Box Derby version is all stock.

Guido, I agree with you about the wheels. They're not bad really, but have absolutely no Pizzazz! They are the worst possible thing a Mag Wheel can be.. Boring.

I wish Round2 had thrown in a set of those ubiquitous 5 spokes that they always used as an option in other kits.

I dig the lowered suspension the most. Wood bed floor is interesting ; appears to be nicely executed.

The rims don't bother me (most 1980s and 1990s custom rims do not appeal to me) - at least they're not dime-a-dozen Centerlines.

The engine looks quite nice. Too bad that the provision for the A/C compressor is there, but doesn't provide for the non-stock hoses and routing. I'm not aware of any oxidiser (GMC-type esp.) which would allow for A/C, let alone power brake booster. But, that's just being petty on my part.
Similarly, I wish that the transmission's oil pan was a separate item.

Oddly, air cleaner decals are included... but no where to put 'em ! Haha. That being said ; the decal sheet is very well executed.

It's always been a nice kit. A couple odd choices for the custom parts like that super obscure B&M fuel injection setup and the wood bed floor. Don't believe I've ever seen an Elcamino with a wood bed in real life but it's different.

As for the wheels, nice to see something besides another set of Torque Thrusts. They're a nice wheel but just done to death since the late '90s.

The Halibrand style would be a common choice for when the kit was originally tooled up and they're great for other applications. [hint hint 😁]

I have always wanted to own a 1:1 68-70 El Camino. (My 1st car was a 68 Malibu) I have used this kit for 2 custom projects. I need to build a Day Two version for my collection.

He did a fine job on this one. I have several AMT 68 El Camino kits, including the last issue of the street machine.  I plan to use some ZForce Modelworx wheels and a Texas 3D LS engine and Transmission.
