So this was the first kit I built as a kid, found another at a swap meet. I was nostalgic and was just gonna recreate my old build, but new skills and a couple members here got me thinking, do it better, and different. No clear on the body yet, createx pearl black. First time spraying their colors, I'm sold on it. Interior is folkart lipstick red, not sure if I want black or red for the carpet and console. What do you all think, let me know.

Nice start, for your color combo, carpet and console both would be same color as the rest of the interior. When the interior was lets say white, it would have black carpet, console, headliner, dash pad, half the door cards and such. But your's being red, all the same.

What I'm using as reference is exactly as you described, I've seen a few others with "stock-ish" interiors where the console, half the dash and seat backs and carpet were black, it looked pretty good. I like the oem look a bit more. Hopefully I can recreate it nicely. Thanks

Yowsa...that pearl black is sweet and that lipstick red really pops.

I can't wait to clear it, it looks really good wet. The interior looks slightly darker under led lighting, when I brought it outside I was surprised.  Here's one of my reference pictures

Yellow....jk, looks good all red with black highlights

Thanks Alex. I plan on detailing this interior a thoroughly as possible, I've already got P.E.  belt buckles, just gotta dye the belts. Being a 1/24 scale kit, hopefully they look right, if not time to scratch build.

It looks more metallic grey than black to me….but I like it!😎 I goes well with the red interior.👍

Thanks. There's a lot of pearl in this paint. I think that "muddies" up the black a bit, and I shot it thin. Two light, one medium and one "heavy" coat.

Started to detail the interior, I may strip the tub and dash and start over. I decided to try bmf under paint in order to keep the detail on the steering wheel, and I'm blown away. My chrome trim experiment with the seats worked out, they look good. Here's a mockup

Decided to strip the tub and dash. While they're soaking I took care of the glass, it was not good at all. Not sure if tire melt effects kits in the 90's era, but this thing had divots and scratches20250615_073708.jpg.85f57f69a88f752f4dd6a39ac7c96648.jpg and was a sealed kit, though handled poorly. Sanded from 1500-6000,plastic x and finished with novus. 20250615_194217.jpg.769f44bd605cdd198f6e239da3948999.jpgThe rear and side windows  need plastic x and novus in the picture. 20250615_194238.jpg.67a0de7c3d844020bb5516deed6e7e09.jpg

Finished stripping the dash and interior tub. Foiled the door trim and around the cluster/center console tonight. Everything into primer tonight, painting tomorrow. Hopefully I can pull this off like I did the steering wheel. Thanks for checking this out.

Give you credit, that takes patience.

Patience is something I have a ton of. I no longer get mad if I make a mistake, whatever it cost me(time, money, ect) was the cost of that "education". Things go smoother for me now that I apply that idea to project. Thanks for checking it out.

This is more like it. Gotta do a bit of touching up, and finish detailing the cluster, but the foil really pulled off what I wanted.

Most of us of a certain age remember this kit quite fondly. Monogram was in the throes of a revival of sorts at the time of this kits release. This kit and the Hemi Cuda were at the center of that revival.

Gonna be a great color combo. Looking good already.

The interior is looking awsome. On the windshield, I see you have sanded to 6000. Thats a start, but it really needs to go to 12.000. then polish out from there. The results will be very noticable.

I did notice after the novus there's still a bit of "swirling".  Thanks for the tip, and the compliment.👍
