Speed Racer Mach 5

Built from the Aoshima kit. Overall it's a good kit, but there are a few oddities like how they split the body along the character line (the lower halves were part of the chassis) and a fully greebled trunk with no opening deck lid. These were offset by the myriad working features including the steering, camera, saw blades, auto jacks, and homing robot. I cut the lower sides off the chassis and made a complete body before painting, opened the trunk, detailed the engine, and added disc brakes all around. Great looking classic cartoon car!  Very well done.  I remember watching this show as a kid back in the '70s.

Looks good. I’ve got this in my stash. My son gave it to me for Christmas. I watched this show as a kid in the 60’s.

It's a good kit, a little odd in places but nothing that makes it frustrating or difficult.

I think it looks awesome!  I know of a guy in WA who has a full size Speedracer under construction, currently stalled (we never do that, do we).

Looks great!  I remember watching that show as a kid.  I also remember getting into a fist fight with a friend over how many races Speed lost.  Ah, the foolishness of youth.
