NYLIBUD Posted Tuesday at 08:27 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:27 PM (edited) So I’m driving to the store via side roads to avoid traffic.Well the next thing I know,a small dog darts out in front of my car,I obviously went to avoid it.But in doing so,I lost control of the car, went up on the curb and kissed a big tree. Then hit a parked car.His damage was far less than mine.It was a big Ford Crown Victoria..Make a long story short,I wrecked my car,a 2021 Nissan Rouge.Ouch!!!!👎😞😫Its a total loss.Thankfully all the air bags went off.I wasn’t even going that fast….Mother@&%#!!!!!😖  Edited Tuesday at 08:30 PM by NYLIBUD 4
Calb56 Posted Tuesday at 08:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:39 PM I'm glad you're okay... and the dog. I won't go on about people letting their dogs run loose. Those collapsible zones might work well with the laws of physics but play heck with repairs.Â
espo Posted Tuesday at 08:57 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:57 PM Glad you're ok, except for maybe feeling bad about yourself. Cars can be replaced, but you may have to do some insurance shopping after this. Hopefully your insurance company doesn't try and short you on the replacement costs for the car. 1
slusher Posted Wednesday at 02:43 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:43 AM It’s good your ok and if he is insured your fine.. 1
stavanzer Posted Wednesday at 03:48 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:48 AM Ouch! I am sorry for you. Glad you are OK.
Mike 1017 Posted Wednesday at 02:10 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:10 PM Ron, Glad you are OK. Over the years of Semi-truck Safety Programs, we were taught to hit whatever kind of animal ran in front of us. Do not avoid it and wind up killing a car full of a family. Mike 2
1930fordpickup Posted Wednesday at 06:08 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:08 PM (edited) I am glad you are ok. To bad about your dads car. Iwas also taught never try to avoid a small animal when driving.  I am glad I haven't make the decision about some ones pet. Now those 2 deer I hit just darted in front of my pickups. Edited Wednesday at 06:09 PM by 1930fordpickup

NYLIBUD Posted Friday at 06:13 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:13 PM Hey,Thanks guys,I appreciate it.As far as avoiding the dog,it was just an instinct, for lack of a better word. And of course the dog ran off like a bat out of hell when I hit the tree.😖
TransAmMike Posted Friday at 06:34 PM Posted Friday at 06:34 PM Thank goodness you're OK Ron. That must have been one wild ride.
webestang Posted Friday at 06:47 PM Posted Friday at 06:47 PM Glad you are OK. Reminds me of when I had my VW Bug. I was driving through a suburb around 25 mph and a dog ran out in front. I slammed on the brakes but the dog went under the Bug and was stuck. The guy (walking the dog with no leash) was freaking out cause the dog was whining (I thought I killed it). We both grabbed the front bumper and lifted the Bug up enough the dog came running from under the car and took off down the street. I asked the guy if he needed a ride to catch the dog but he said the dog was running back home. Crazy.  2

I was thinking this exact thing. It would be a natural reaction to avoid hitting anything that suddenly appeared.
slusher Posted Friday at 09:52 PM Posted Friday at 09:52 PM I wrecked a pickup once because I was avoided a dog and hit the dog and killed it and felt bad on both counts in 1990..
