Phildaupho Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Very cool to see the renderings. Over the weekend I actually saw 5 '64 Comets with 4 of them at one show. Here is one of them.
Rob Hall Posted July 9 Posted July 9 My neighbor across the street has a sweet '64 Comet convertible, pale yellow w/ black interior. Also has a '53 Ford pickup and a '32 3 window coupe rod.

Good catch! Looks like the old AMT kit still has some relevance for those of us wanting to build the Jack Chrisman Comet.

Don Holthaus used to sell a Cyclone body sans side trim, as well as a full resin kit of same. They were really good looking cars for the era, IIRC the '63-4 Mercs and Comets were the last of the George W. Walker-authored mid-century designs, before Mercury went very formal under his successor Bordinat.
Radretireddad Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) I caught these test shots at Pegasus hobbies in a recent YouTube vid. Looks really good! Sorry for the sketchy quality. Credit to Red Hill Rod & Kustom for the video. Here’s the link. There’s also shots of the B/FX ‘65 Comet and 1970 Ramp truck. Edited July 22 by Radretireddad 2
niteowl7710 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Don't need tests shots of the B/FX Comet or Ramp Truck, those kits are out on the streets.
thatz4u Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Dug into my stash, found an AMT 64 Comet, compared it to the Moebius 65 Comet stock hood, to the untrained eye there will appear little difference.

Depends on how untrained the eye is. In my view both the leading edge and the top contours are totally different. 3

Kinda like the AMT Pontiac SD. The Moebius versions floor pan and chassis are identical. And if they aren’t, I can’t see any noticeable differences. I’ve actually used parts from both in a build. Agree - looking at the custom interior and chrome reverse from the AMT '62 for the Moby Catalina. Gotta love that transitive property!
unclescott58 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Any word yet, will this model include a flat, non-scooped, “stock” hood or not? It makes a difference on whether I buy the kit or not. I love ‘64 Comets. I’m hoping I can build just a “regular” showroom stock Cyclone. No fancy “drag scoops” on the hood.

Both 1964 kits have the same hood.

Custom Mike Posted 18 minutes ago Posted 18 minutes ago One big mistake on this kit, which is amazing that they missed it. I picked one up at the ACME show this weekend. The Comet script on the passenger side quarter panel is backwards. A complete mirror image of the driver's side script.
