Hello All, I was looking to throw a quick build together in between bigger projects, and chose an AMT 1939 Wagon Rod. In this case, I went with their ProShop series which already had the body and parts painted.

Unboxing revealed some great surprises from this 90's era resto-mod, including an Art Morrison frame, air spring suspension, 9" Ford rear axle, and fully custom interior. Most exciting for me though was the dual overhead cam LT5 engine mated to a Borg-Warner 5 speed manual. I liked this engine so much that I decided to spend the extra effort to wire it.

Assembly was fairly straightforward, but required careful attention to instructions as order of installation and orientation of parts were at times a bit vague. Having said that, the level of detail continued to impress with rack-and-pinion steering, disc brakes, etc. I have seen variations of this kit with chrome parts trees, however this variation had no chrome whatsoever  - settling instead for silver paint. Since I wanted to bring the bling back to this beauty, I decided to try the Revell Chrom Spray I recently obtained, and all I can say is "WOW"! It is definitely the chromiest chrome I have used out of a spray can. It is pricey, and still requires gentle handling so as not to dull the finish, but the effect is excellent. Without further ado, here is the finished product all ready for show and go!

Very well done. I always liked these pro shop kits. I'd like to see them come back in some form. I really like your Pizza Pie door decals.

Thank you David. The side decals were actually extras from an Atlantis Tom Daniel Pie Wagon kit, but seemed right at home here.

Looks good! Seems like a prime kit for a kit-bash project.

Thank you Craig. I couldn't agree more, as one of the more beautiful kit-bashes of this model came from our friend @Phil Dauphinee and his gorgeous 1948 Ford Woody resto-mod seen here:

You built a great looking Wagon Rod and thank you for your comments about my '48. The Wagon Rod is really a neat kit from an era when AMT was producing well engineered unique kits that were not only very nice in their own right but contained super parts that could be used in other projects like the chassis in the Wagon Rod and Phantom Vickie. I did build my own version of the Wagon Rod 20 years ago and sent you a photo in a PM.
