Smart-Resins Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I am not sure about that? For me it is GM and NASCAR. LOL. But with GM on the brink of break up. Who knows? I may have to stop going to american dealerships and start going to rice patties to find a new car? YIKES!! Jody
Harry P. Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I am not sure about that? For me it is GM and NASCAR. LOL. With every car in NASCAR being the exact same generic car, not Ford or Chevy or Dodge or....anything...how do you know which one is "GM"??? Answer: There are no "GM" cars running in NASCAR. And no Fords, and no MOPARS either. It's all a charade...
Scott - Elm City Hobbies Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Yeah, they are all the same car now. There are slight differences to the nose of the car (minor) to make it look a little more like the "brand" they are representing, and of course the markings fill out what looks like a different model of car, but in the end they are all the same. The engines.....again, for the most part are the same, I don't know if there is much factory backing as far as engines go, most engines being made in engine shops and not representative of a factory engine...that being said....they are all in one form or another a derivative of a small bloc Chevy.....might say Ford on the valve cover, or on the body......but in the end, the engine is based on a chevy. I wish they would go back to the good ole days and let them run a Ford, Toyota, Chevy, Mopar engine......love to see a true Hemi in a Charger/Avenger bodied car. As far as Ferrari leaving F1 over a spending cap?? Give me a break.....are they afraid that the spending cap will limit them, and bring some of the lesser teams closer to them? Sounds to me like they are afraid of a little competition!!! Mind you looking at their record this year...with no spending cap....and the fact that they are getting spanked! In the end it may bring F1 back to a "Real" race with better competition. It has been too long where if you drove McLaren or Ferrari, or your name was Schumacher that you won a race. I stopped watching F1 races back when Mansell, Prost, Senna and the boys made it exciting....F1 just doesn't have the excitement it used to....but maybe if this spending cap goes through....it will make it more exciting, making the races and competition closer, and not have the cars strung out all over the track with a half dozen passes a race.

LUKE'57 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 true that ,all the nascar races are filmed in the same studio where the recorded the "moonlanding" As a fan of stock car racing since the fifties, I've just got to say that this is probably the funniest thing I have read about Nascar in the last twenty years. That is classic!!
Zoom Zoom Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 It's about time F1 faced a future w/o the major players due to the utter incompetency from the top. Bernie and Max need to go. Yesterday wouldn't be too soon. I was so over F1 by the end of last year I promised to never watch it again until those two clowns are gone, and then only again if F1 raced in North America again. F1 doesn't deserve any fans from North America.
evilone Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 The world isnt going to end ME AND MY BUDDY ARE GOING TO BLOW IT UP J/K LOL
roadhawg Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 true that ,all the nascar races are filmed in the same studio where the recorded the "moonlanding" *Sigh*.......at least professional wrestling is still real.
Smart-Resins Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ROFLMBO!! Funny guys. I must admit about the cars. I used to watch when the King still ran the old cars and watched my next favorite, Dale come into the picture. I have been watching since I was knee high to a grasshopper. So I have enjoyed the sport. Honestly since Dale bit the wall, I have watched nill to none of it. True NASCAR racing is dead as are the real cars. But in my belief, it was NASCAR and drag racing that helped bring the automotive world into the overall racing scene. I think it was drag racing that brought the real light to it and to muscle cars in general. I also used to watch that! However these new bread of cars, I dont really care for. Give me vintage or nastolgic races! My main point was the idea that GM could be in real hot water! If they can not fall under bankrupty protection and rebuild thier company, we loose loose GM. We have lost Pontiac forever now. But Chevrolet and GM and Cadillac would be far greater!! I know they never used to have this restructuring and bankrupty protection back in the day when our economy was a real economy, and poeple and places survived. When someone did not survive, there were at least three others ready to step forward and create something to take over. This new game of econimics that they try to play in my opinion is a bunch of farse!! With all of the money they sent to the banks and to the car manufacturers, if they had returned that money to the poeple, we could have all paid off our houses before forclosure, or bought a new car or went on a shopping spree, raising everyones morals, and supporting these faltering businesses. But that again is not the real answere to the problem! The problem already existed and it was created by the Government as they tax us and govern these coorperations! I will totally agree that the world is changing and its not good! Obama may or may not be helping us in the short run, but every president finds his way to help us out temporarily. Then when the doo doo hits the fan, we turn to butchering them verbaly and wait for the next president to come in and try to fix it. Every time it seams to get worse in the long run!! Now as for Ferarri, it is sad to see them go to the wayside in the F! racing. I think it is a good advertising thing for them!! But we will see! Jody
george 53 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 When ya gotta pay a milliom bucks for one their cars, how can they claim a spending cap? Aren't they getting ENOUGH for one of their rides? Ferarri's been the top dog for so long, they NEED to let a better car win thru quality built cars than with money! Where's Porsche to thro the first shovel full 'o dirt?
roadhawg Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Signs of the end of the world as we know it. .........And I feel fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmxyj6iInMc Sorry, couldn't help it. You do not understand the whole situation. First of all mr Ferrari's philosophy was he sold street cars only to support the racecars, his first priority was racing. Ferrari wants to spend whatever it takes to win. The FIA plan is if you will submit to only spending 40m euros you will be able to have a range of things you cannot have now including unlimited engine revs,4 wheel drive and cockpit adjustable wings to name a few. You would end up 2 tiers fof racecars.

Like, Maybe in the 60's when Shelby came over with a better car than his little GTOs... It seems to me old man Ferrari is again saying "If I can't win my way, I'm taking my toys and going home..." All I can say is chao, baby! Mind you, I have nothing against the old man and his beautiful cars, but hey, if you can't take the heat... Whithout rules, regulations and limits, even Nascar would look more like Speed Racer right now.

Nick F40 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Oh no, no more Ferrari 1! It's about time F1 faced a future w/o the major players due to the utter incompetency from the top. Bernie and Max need to go. Yesterday wouldn't be too soon. I was so over F1 by the end of last year I promised to never watch it again until those two clowns are gone, and then only again if F1 raced in North America again. F1 doesn't deserve any fans from North America. Yeah I read about it and Bob and I are on the same page. Ferrari is with us and is smart and is thinking with the people. He wants to win, can you imagine if Porsche was in it? As most know, as a big Ferrari fan, this doesn't surprise me, look how ###### F1 is this year, like WRC, going downhill and just like IRC with rally, that's beating WRC with viewers, competition, drivers, countries. With F1, A1GP, GP2, and Formula BMW are gaining audiences, with A1GP, Ferrari really does the whole deal, the cars use a Ferrari engine, now how many of you knew that, exactly, because this is the only thing that brings in money, which all people care about and F1 especially. A1GP is GREATLY better than F1, yes same engines, but different countries competing and good racing and unlimited in a sense. There's a US team in that and is doing decent. They said 2010 was going to be the good year, and for most other series it is like ALMS and I think Grand Am will make it's full appearance. Bernie and Max need to go NOW, The FIA name and WRC and F1 are getting screwed over more and more each hour with them in charge. They need to get rid os sequential shifters, paddle, clutchless, traction control, for every race series, electronics, fancy brakes and aero dynamics "Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines" Enzo My favorite cars were the turbo and the 60's I am also waiting for a US Grand Prix and for them to get out, TRUST ME, PEOPLE WOULD WANT TO WATCH THE F1 CARS IN DETROIT OR INDY AGAIN!!I watched a few races, but it is a little boring, commentators are great but the racing isn't that great, no so much passing like they promised and get rid of the ###### KERS! and what happend to the good sponsers????? Yeah you know me, when I see a Marlboro car win man I just want to smoke them right after the race. I don't know how much more i'm going to watch, maybe a few like Monza and Monaco but not much else. Money, stop talking!!!!! The early 00's, 90's and late 80's were fabulous in F1, check out this US GP video. They had a HUGE field! two of the best drivers also, what happened to special drivers, we will never get another Senna, he had character we need another Mansell, Lauda, Schumacher, etc Edited May 13, 2009 by Nick F40
Nick F40 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 another great one, Jean Alesi, this is exciting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_FotzVUU-0...feature=related

"That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes and aeroplanes, Lenny Bruce is not afraid..." From there, I kinda get lost. Edited May 14, 2009 by Chuck Most
