Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hello, folks, just sharing a bit of the latest work in progress . . . this one is almost done, I hope . . . hope you enjoy it . . . the whole build is archived in my Fotki account. Thanks for looking . . .
Raul_Perez Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 A true work of art has no front, back, top, bottom, left or right side to it...it is something that can be viewed and admired equally from any angle. This is not a model...it is a work of art!! Congrats on another awesome build!! Later,
Foxer Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Breakfast was a pleasure! (please don't count the eggs) All the details stand out ... but the graffiti especially make this one-of-a-kind and really do the job!
george 53 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Jeeze Virge, couldnt ya find a rattier car ta pick? A B-5 blue Challenger T/A six pack? Now that's just not believeable. It LOOKS REAL enough, but even here in Deetroit, where folks is kinda jaded about ol muscle cars, a car like that would NEVER be left exposed to the elements like that! Good hypothetical build though. It LOOKS GREAT. Do ya find 'em like that in Flahduh? Cause they shore ain't found like that 'round here!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 I don't know about Challengers, but I've seen all sorts of great cars in Florida . . . all junked and all rusting happily into oblivion!!! Thanks for the comments everyone. I really appreciate them . . . I took the build outside for a little bit of fun and to see if I could play around in fooling the eye, and here's a neat little result, well, at least I think it is neat:
cruz Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 This is great stuff, you are the man Virgil, just phenomenal!!!
george 53 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Oh now THAT pick is COOL!!! Looks like the Mookie Dook, Dude! Hey, jus where is that ol Chally? Wonder if I can talk 'em outta it!? Again, GREAT BUILD!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 It'd probably go for cheap!!! Yeah, right! Thanks, gents, for the kind comments . . . builds like these really help keep my blood pressure down!
pharr7226 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 FANTASTIC! I've looked at it 3 times and I see something new every time I look at it.
Foxer Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) That's a great shot outdoors!! colors blend well and scale looks just right. Edited May 13, 2009 by Foxer

sak Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Unbeleivable bro. I have to ask, where do you get all that miniature stuff, particularly all those little gears and that stuff of the roof of your painkiller charger?
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Most of the diorama details come from exchanges I have done with other folks who build dioramas, but I also have an extensive diorama parts box where I keep all the stuff that I think will work . . . but believe it or not you can get a lot of mileage out of simple paper. Like the discarded Mexican blanket inside the Challenger that was found on Google Image, printed down to scale on regular paper, and then glued to the interior . . . let me dig up the picture . . . To make the interior look thrashed, I just glued pieces of Kleenex to the seat with watered down white glue and then after it dried rockhard, I cut it and pulled it into the right sized tears . . . I had done the same thing to the headliner . . .
Raul_Perez Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Very nice techniques, Virgil!! Thanks for sharing!!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 You are welcome, buddy. Now, I've lost my mind working on this next one:
