gtx6970 Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) A quick build for me. maybe even a record . LoL Start to finish in under 2 weeks I think Straight from the box build , with exception I used the Auto trans version of the engine from the Plymouth kit . To more faithfully replicate the original car back in the day Tamiya plain red for the exterior. Titanium gold for the Interior Started off just so see if the decals were even still good. Luckily for me. they went on perfect with zero issues( knocks on wood ) I tried to stay true to the actual car using vintage photos from old magazines . Details like the white door window frames on a red body . Wheel choice , etc etc. * A builders note If I do another one using the rolled front pan. I would cut it off the mounting tabs and glue it to the front side. I dont care for how it makes the bumper fit per kit instructions. Edited July 23 by gtx6970 16
papajohn97 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 (edited) Fabulous job Bill on this build, especially the paint & decal work and all the little things (AT, wheels, side window frame colors & un-chromed rain gutters) to match the period photos. I'm loving all these builds being posted of this excellent new Moebius kit, keep them coming! I need to get off the stick and build and post one and join the AWB A/FX Mopar fanboy club. M W Elky Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Great job on my all time favorite Awb car of all time. Bud flew out to Detroit and drove this car back to PENNA . to break in the Hemi . These guys were true renegades back then . 1
Brutalform Posted August 8 Posted August 8 This I like a lot. You nailed it. Definitely looks like a LOT more time went into it. You are really moving along with these AWB cars! 1
GMP440 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Outstanding. Where did you purchase the decals? Also, the Hemi Honker logo on the side; is that all part of a long white decal on the sides or is Hemi Honker logo a separate decal and the white is just painted? I've seen numerous back in the day pics of this car. I noticed Faubel used red, black or white rear steel wheels. Is this just a case as to using whatever rear wheels he had available? 1

All the decals are all one piece None are multi layer The side decals are 2 pieces. The ft fender sections are one. and from ft door seam back is 2nd piece When or where I bought them I dont remember,,,, as I've had them for years The comp was Performance Detail Products and are long gone as far as I know Chris Walsh makes a set today,,,,, for either the original car OR the restored modern version Items for sale by rpols6 | eBay
pulln4dejr Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Beautiful job! Just watched a video on YouTube about “The Honker” a couple of weeks ago, excellent reference point!
