1969 dodge polara coupe

this is a fully 3d resin printed mode kit except for the glass but that was made using the patterns which i printed 
this is one of andrey bezrodny's awesome 3d printable model kits though i did mirror the dash in the slicer so it would print as a right hand drive layout and the mags came from another of his kits 
i painted the body a base coat of rust-oleum 2x gloss colonial red and then a top coat of rust-oleum color shift iridescent shimmer 
i painted the interior rust-oleum 2x flat white primer 

the front wheels and suspension look lowered but that was un intentional as the front part if the chassis bowed upward pretty bad and i had it happen twice with two chassis the one resulted in the front section snapping off while trying to un bow it under warm water the second one did the same but i just left it alone and it gave it this rake

I've noticed some printed stuff wanting to return to their original warped state after correcting.  Chassis and flat interior pieces seem to be where you might find some warping.  Thankfully I haven't noticed any warping with the bodies (maybe I've just been lucky).

you need to use very hot water and cool it in very cold waterimmediately when straightening printed resin and try not to do it all at once. it works better to do a little at a time and repeat, or you could just print another which i've taken to doing.

yes those are the types of parts also hoods  i have had this issue with they just do not want to stay in the un warped un bowed shape and the only time i have had a body warp is if i remove the supports while washing the parts before i put them in my custom made uv curing box

they do not stay un bowed they end up returning to the bowed shape even after un warping 
and yes that is what i do run under  hot water that turns hurts my fingers and hands then run under cold water that makes my fingers and hands very cold

thank you  i like it and plan on painting more cars like this  plus this is the only color shift paint that actually shows up well through my camera

Love the paint Michelle!! Takes me back to my early 70's boulevard cruising! Outside of the box and we'll done!

I'm still debating on pulling  the trigger to get one.  Gorgeous body style, one looong trunk lid which kinda (Imho) throws the roof lenght diminsions off.

The 2nd 3d kit (77 Pontiac Can Am) had more warpage issues than my 1st kit. Did the same  process with the hot/cold water way more than once. 

With  the chassis more so I would take popsicle sticks, trim lenght as needed, place on both sides of the affected warp area,  then use clothes pins to clamp/ hold in place.  The do the hot/cold water treatment & and leave for a few hours at room temp. 

Repeat if needed if the results are not to your liking but either leave the sticks/clothes pins or add a extra popsicle stick (same thickness or something thinner) to compensate for some return to the original bend/ warpage ever so slight.

Hope this tid bit of info helps.  Great build! I do have to say that the paint choice is a little radical for me but sometimes you have to jolt the crowd. The more I look back over it, it grows on ya and is a pretty darn smooth application for what it's worth.

One last thought,  have you've ever seen the movie "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" with Clint Eastwood & Jeff Bridges?  A version of that Monaco jacked up with 10" rear shackles, 50 series (WIDE) rear tires and a flat black paint job comes to mind.....along with the bunnies!

i have printed andrey bezrodny's  77 can am and the 73 gto  and the 68 valiant 100 sedan and a 67 cougar and 69 sc rambler hurst and another 2024 dark horse mustang and a 69 skylark over the last several days 
and will be posting the video of andrey's 69 polara sedan i printed and built tomorrow

G’day Michelle. Looks great, nicely detailed wheels, ( l struggle with this ). The heavy flake in the paint is kinda period correct as l remember going to custom panel van shows in the late 70’s and buying all the car magazines and this paint was very popular then. 👍🏻
