Jim B Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I am currently building the Revell 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS, and I have a question on the interior. I have been looking on the internet for reference photos, and I noticed that there seems to be two different steering wheels. One is a three spokes: And one is a two spoke: So, my question is: which steering wheel would have come standard from the factory on the Z/28 RS?
espo Posted July 28 Posted July 28 The first picture is of a Camaro with the optional Custom Interior and the extra cost Rosewood steering wheel. 2 1
Jim B Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 @slusher Thanks for the confirmation, Carl. I had a feeling that the green one was the correct steering wheel. Now I just have to find one as I don't think that one came with the kit. Just a chrome three spoke. @espo Thanks, David. That really is a nice looking interior.
johnyrotten Posted July 28 Posted July 28 The monogram 70 chevelle has the wheel you're looking for, but its for an SS. It's a 1:24 kit, so that may be an issue. 1
Jim B Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 @johnyrotten Thanks, John. I'll have to see what I can come up with. I'd like to make this build at least kind of accurate. 1
Jim B Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 (edited) Oddly, the listing for this car also say that it's a Z/28 RS: And someone bought it for $165,000! Edited July 28 by Jim B
Shark Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Back when those cars were new, the dealers and even the factory would get you what you want, so either wheel may be correct. 1
1972coronet Posted July 29 Posted July 29 IIRC, the rosewood steering wheel was part of the Sports Car Package , which also included a 150 MPH speedometer and other gauges ( not too certain about the speedo's MPH ). * too bad that the late, great @Snake45 isn't with us . He would have the correct info. 1
Can-Con Posted July 29 Posted July 29 That steering wheel seems to have been available as a "stand alone" option in '69 as N34 - 1 Steering Wheel - Wood Grained Plastic Here's links to a couple really good 1st gen Camaro reference sites. http://camaros.org/index.shtml https://camaroworld.macswebs.com/home.html 2
Exotics_Builder Posted Tuesday at 04:50 AM Posted Tuesday at 04:50 AM The Revell 68 does not come with the custom interior. But the "Rosewood" wheel was a common add on for sportier versions, including the Z/28. So, either version will work. Here is the interior on my 69 Pace Car (which has the custom interior). 1
Jim B Posted Tuesday at 12:45 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 12:45 PM Thanks for all of the information, guys, I appreciate it. @Exotics_Builder That's a nice looking interior, Gerry.
