65slotcar Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Another little project i have started. 69 Sunoco Camaro. . doing this number 9 car . aftermarket resin cast body found on e-bay years ago. fireball modelworks minilite wheel and tire combo. the fred caddy decals were all i could find. the white outline on Sunoco is a seperate decal and looks like a pain . does anyone know a better option for decals? thanks Bill 12
Dave B Posted July 29 Posted July 29 This will be interesting, love the TrasAm era. Fred Cady decals are excellent, you just have to have patience and persevere. Dave B
1959scudetto Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Fred Cady decals are very good to work with - I recently used a set which was almost 35 years old without any problem. They only demand a little more work, as each color is a seperate layer and you have to apply it one after the other. They lay down smoothly without setting solution.
65slotcar Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 (edited) yah the Fred Cady decals look like high quality decals, just never tried over laying decals. i will give them a shot. my first attempt at a vinyl top ,added a couple small strips of plastic to simulate a vinyl top . just need to paint semi gloss black after body is painted blue. a little work to interior, fabricated some aluminum panels and modified a Plastic Performance Products roll cage. SpeedAndViolence Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Watching this closely... Anything from the Trans-Am era, is just beyond cool. If I still had my 68 Mustang coupe, it would have the looks and performance of a Trans-Am car, but all modern components and totally streetable.
bytownshaker Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Looking great!! you even have the correct color for the Traco engine.

Also very fortunate to live near 2 race tracks and pictures of the real car can be very helpful. 3

Big Messer Posted August 13 Posted August 13 There is an old story from when NASCAR was known as "cheaters paradise". The Sunoco Camaro was said to have been acid-dipped so much that they got holes in the roof so they put vinyl. It was the only NASCAR ever with vinyl roof AFAIK, so there should be some true on that.
65slotcar Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM Author Posted yesterday at 02:34 AM decals and base coat done and ready for clear coat. Building a box stock ,no mods Corvette along side the Camaro. had to test out Gravity Colors Sunoco Blue. the Fred Caddy decals on the Camaro were by no means fun to put on, but look nice. Bill 1
250 Testa Rossa Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I want to do the Corvette as well. I do know for a fact that the Corvette had the N03 option, which was the 36.5 gallon fuel tank. Gerry Chevalier offers a resin conversion for that tank. I have one that I've installed in my '63 Vette SnapTite build.
