Have a quick question in regard to an engine swap. I have an older AMT Issue of the 1971 Plymouth Duster Street Machine. Would the Duster's 340 fit the MPC 1971 Dodge Demon with little, or no modifications? Or do I have to look elsewhere?

Since a Duster is basically the same car as a Demon, and as both kits are supposedly 1/25 scale, either engine should fit either kit relatively easily.

BUT...different tooling designers may have "interpreted" things like engine and trans mounts somewhat differently, so some minor rework is likely to be required.

Here's more...

Jerry, I'm always curious why people use subject lines like "quick question" instead of something like in this instance "Engine Swap question", which to me is not much harder to type up, but would be more descriptive.  Or you all are going for the click-bait effect?  I'm not trying to be a wise-ass - I'm really curious.

To be transparent I have no ulterior motive other than to have a question answered.

The Demon chassis has the tail end of the transmission molded in it, so you would need to remove it. Why not just use the Duster's chassis underneath it, it is much better and I know others have done it

Jerry you could have just added this question to your Demon/Hobby Lobby thread.

Perhaps but didn't think of it at the time. Never thought this would become an issue.

It's not an issue, Jerry. Along the way we all could have "this or that ". Like myself, I get carried away as my morning coffee kicks in, or ten dumb thumbs before it kicks in. I could just wait till everything settles down, but I enjoy coming in here before my day gets going, and after my morning Scripture time, after also being in the Christian forums. Next stop is here.

As to your engine, with a little kit bash work you can stuff any engine in there. I'm not familiar enough with the kits involved to say how easy or difficult it might be. I once took a 32 Ford sedan, also a model A sedan, converted those to slot cars, maintaining the open side hoods with model engine exposed. So ya, it's just plastic.

Okay. No worries then.
