ewetwo Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I managed to get these pieced back together as far as I could. They were in box with a lot of other stuff and I felt they should be repaired. They are old. I'm sure they are missing more pieces. But this is as far as I could go. 12
ewetwo Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 (edited) Thank. I was afraid to wash them for fear the decals would come off. So kind of dirty. Surprised there were enough part to pieces them together to this point. Wheel axels broken. Hub caps off. They were a mess. They were in this mess I bought. Edited September 26 by ewetwo 1
stavanzer Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Very Nice Saves on those two old Monogram Fords. That Coupe is a very rare item. A word of warning. I had a Monogram Duesenberg molded in Tan, like the one you have. I got it at a yard sale, half built. I found that when I went to work on it, the plastic was so brittle, that it shattered when I placed any pressure on it. Not sure if yours will be that way, but I thought you should know. The Chrome Parts were the worst, but all of it was so fragile that I ended up not being able to save it.
ybsluos Posted September 27 Posted September 27 (edited) David nice score! Nice Resto work too. Both Monogram kits I believe. Red Chariot 32 Sport Coupe Like Alan said the coupe is indeed rare. I hope I’m not geeking out here, but it happens that I was looking for this kit at one point in time and I did a little research on it. I believe it was made in 1958 and that the molds were destroyed shortly thereafter, so that baby isn’t gonna come back! If I’m not mistaken it’s actually closer to 1/22 scale then 1/24. At least that’s the way it appeared to me when I had my grimy little digits on one in Detroit. It was unbuilt and mint in the box. The seller wanted like $300 but offered it to me for $250. I passed because I was really just hoping to come by a builtup that I could restore/modify. The unbuilt one was too nice in other words! My desire for one has diminished because I have a zillion other model projects. If someday I find a builtup one price I may pick it up. In the meanwhile though I’m glad to look at yours because you’ve done a nice job putting it back together. It looks like you got a bunch of nice cars in that lot. Enjoy and happy building! ea0863 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I love them both! When they are ugly little cars, the dirt is called "grimy". When they are sweet rides like yours though, it is called "patina"!

Surprised there were enough part to pieces them together to this point. Wheel axels broken. Hub caps off. They were a mess. Thank you for the history on these Mark. I do have the roof for the Red Chariot but didn't have a window frame for it. If it was in the box. It must have been in pieces. Allan. I'm not doing anything with the old classics. They are missing too many parts. They will be sold/traded off as a lot. Not the 59 Chevy or Lincoln though. And the Austin Healy with the number 12 on it is a slot car. That's pretty rare also. I'll keep them for a while. Then move on. Still haven't found a matching fender skirt for the Chevy.
Mike 1017 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Very nice collection. I wished that I saved my first builds, but me and my brother blew them up with Firecrackers every 4th of July
ewetwo Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 Well I did find more pieces. The top and windshield for the one though the frames was in pieces. So I cut a piece of clear glass and combed that together. You don't see it too much. And front suspension pieces for the coupe. Not sure what you call them.
