rastta Posted Tuesday at 09:45 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:45 PM This one was a bit of a challenge as I had to build an almost stock SBC version of a 65 SS using the AMT kit that came with the big block. Luckily he had left over paint so I was able to air brush that. The biggest challenge was the rear end, as it's completely different on the regular SS not the Z16. That and the fact that the small block has a spacer between the radiator and the support to move it back to the motor. I did add some stuff to the model that aren't on his car yet, such as the bumper guards, wheel opening chrome, windshield wipers and washer tank. Those are in the works. Overall I'm happy and he's stoked so that's all that matters. Made the license plate decal and had the SS one from my stash. Here's a couple pictures of his car and then the model version follows. 12
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted Wednesday at 02:59 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:59 AM Beautiful. I miss having a Chevelle. The Challenger is nice, but the Chevelle.........it's a whole different vibe. 2
XYHARRY Posted Wednesday at 08:59 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:59 AM Nice replica of your buddy's SS. Well done Joe. 1

I am building a 65 SS now myself and the biggest thing was the tail panel i took a gamble and bought a AMT 65 AWB kit and cut out the rear panel ant it was a good gamble it dropped in with very little work i also used the taillights and bumper it all fit good and has the factory look. I hope to get to the point soon to show some photos. 1

I did buy the 64 kit thinking it had a motor - but LOL it was a curbside. At least it had decals I could use and the correct steering wheel. Good luck on your build!

Just finished it up. I put the 65's BB in it. Added a few things. Gonna post it up soon.
espo Posted yesterday at 09:02 PM Posted yesterday at 09:02 PM Beautiful looking model of your friends Chevelle. The paint looks great, and the color is dead on. The engine looks just as clean as the real cars engine. Like the rally wheels. 1
