I guess what's fair is fair. After all we now have a 4-door Charger and a 4-door Mustang, so why not a 4-door Camaro.  What really boggles me is that the younger people turned up their noses against station wagons, back in the day (I hate using that phrase) but now they fall all over themselves for a SUV. Which is nothing more than a shorter station wagon on a slightly raised platform. Two or three seats with a storage area behind the rear under the lift up back panel sure sounds like a station wagon to me.

I thought I read somewhere that Ford had drastically cut their EV production recently because there were indications that the market for them had plateaued.

Similar sources say ChryCo can’t give the new electric Chargers away.

Kinda sounds like the people who wanted EVs and could afford them already have theirs.  I see higher cost, less travel range and the lack of charging facilities in less populated areas appearing as red flags to a great portion of car shoppers.

That said, it doesn’t surprise me.  That stupid expletive running GM wants to turn the Corvette into a station wagon.  No thanks.

Fashion is a wheel that keeps going in circles (anybody else remembers four wheel steering?). The old stuff gets renamed and pushed down our throats time and time again. The constant recycle of the names of iconic cars from the past plastered on the "new and improved" disposable things that are passed as "cars" now also rubs me the wrong way. I highly doubt that selling me anything newer than BC (Before Computers) will ever happen.

You could load a 4x8 sheet of plywood in a full-size station wagon... and still close the rear gate.

I've read that the Mach-E is the best selling Mustang variation...Ford has cut back truck EV production as those were duds in the marketplace.

In the olden days, pickup trucks could also haul a 4x8 w/ the tailgate shut...but the vast majority of pickups today have short 5.5 or 6 ft beds..

The Mustang Mach-E was the best-selling Mustang variation for the entirety of 2024, but the gas-powered Mustang reclaimed the top spot by a slim margin in the first half of 2025.

The golf-cart version has pulled ahead in the last half again, with something like 10,000 more battery-powered toys purchased.

As noted by Ford officials and automotive "experts", sales for both models are subject to external market pressures. For example, the upcoming discontinuation of a $7,500 federal EV tax credit at the end of Q3 2025 caused a rush of electric vehicle purchases, boosting Mach-E sales.

It's important to remember that the two models appeal to different buyers and are in different vehicle segments. The Mach-E, an electric crossover, competes with SUVs, while the gas-powered Mustang competes in the shrinking market for traditional muscle cars and sports coupes.

Because most new-truck buyers have no clue what to do with anything that needs to fit in a 4X8 bed.

You are too generous: they don't have a clue AT ALL about most everything. Change a tire? (blank stare). Or something really esoteric: check oil...

To be fair, the Mach E seems to be a decent transportation appliance if you can charge at home. This is a pretty balanced discussion.

EDIT: It would seem like the new "Camaro" is the same "ME TOO!!!" reaction that the original was, but trying to emulate the Mach E this time.

By the way...I like real Camaros just fine, thanks.  B)

If I had a daily commute something like a Mach-E would work for me...though  I do like the Cadillac Lyriq and Vistiq...may take one of those for a test drive when I take my CT6 in for service.   Though I really want a CT5-V Blackwing.

What the hell drugs are the guys in Detroit on?

In the beginning, car companies built what they wanted to build, and people bought them or not.

Car companies are now 'market driven', which means they all try to compete with each other for share of a market that knows pretty much nothing about anything, by all building essentially the same thing.

100% speculation by the Motor Trend people. The Camaro is NOT coming back.

As for the Mach-E, it's an awesome car. Looks good. Room for 4 adults. Big trunk/hatch area. All the features we could want. Brutally fast. Handles great, yet has a comfortable ride. 450km to a charge. 350km to a charge in the Canadian winter. No issues with interior heat or defrost. We loved our GT Performance Edition and would 100% buy another. But we NEVER called it a Mustang.

Nope, that’s just not going to be a thing for me.

I think it looks pretty good actually, but it's not what I'd ever associate with the original Camaro concept.

But in a world of low-T consumers who want appliances, whaddya expeckt?

Nowadays "trucks" are used to run errands that we did as kids in a bicycle...
