It’s NOT a Jeep thing.

About five six years ago I owned a perfect 2000 Jeep Cherokee,well it was perfect to me.It got wrecked bad.I loved the truck,was gonna give it to my kid.And then it gets wrecked.So I look at a bunch of others and wind up buying this POS mall rat Jeep,from a 4x4 shop,cause it reminded me of my 2000.My 2000 had low miles,no,”0” rust or big dents.Automatic,not like my old 4spd two door green one.Rare little Jeep.93,Two door,the color,like a Forrest Green side rear pop out windows.And a few other small factory options.Anyway,so shortly after my 2000 gets wiped out,I see this thing sitting up for sale,like I said at a shop.That was my first mistake.I built my 2000 from the 6 and 1/2 inch suspension,a snorkel,a visor,cut fenders,35s,12.5,on 15 x 8 inch wheels,and that was it.It could and did go anywhere,Rubicon Raush Creek,The Hamptons,my friends property in PA…The 2000 was just put back on the road after 3 years,cause my 09 CV police interceptor got wrecked by a fat ugly sh#% brown UPS truck.That was that.But I kinda hate this Cherokee,now that I put it back on the road.Yesterday I finally got to go a little off-roading up in the woods near my house.It poured Thursday so I knew it was gonna be nice and muddy.It was,and the truck was ok,not as good as my 2000,but not bad,Anyway,I bought a 2004 Landrover.So I may sell the Jeep,& throw the Landrover Discovery on the road.Its lifted,but not high enough.So I’ll go up.The first pic is the 2000,And the other is the 2001,obviously..Thats only on a four inch lift,but with 35s,but on 17 Hummeresque,if that’s a word,wheels.They are a pain to take off.Its got a winch,but I never use it..The 2000,and even my 93 two door rode on regular black steel wheels.🫩I wish I had a picture of my 93.BTW,if you are looking to buy a Cherokee,buy one from 93-2001,(well that was the final year for the XJs.Most prior to the 93 model was supposed to be garbage, especially the diesel’s,which were kind of rare.Thats what I read,IDK.👐

Around here, you don't see mud on these jeeps, too many pavement princesses, glad to see it dirty and even though it wasn't as much fun, it got dirty! I look forward to seeing the Landrover!

I hate clean 4xs,pick ups,and especially Jeeps.The top photo,I was going to a show awhile back.In the 2000.But look at the Wrangler flares the shop installed.If I was to keep it,cut the fenders again,it would go up to 6,& 1/2,again on 35,12.5,on 15X8s.And yea I gotta take pic of the Landy.

I am the same man, clean trucks nah, dirty and used, hell yes!   And you can tell your top photo, she wasn't a pavement princess but a backwoods mud loving chick!

I wash my trucks every 3 or 4 years, whether they need it or not.

I laugh @Ace-Garageguy but I think that is how often I have washed my truck. I usually wash it if I have been to the dump and it's muddy nasty.  Otherwise no bath's for it.

I've kept my Jeeps over the years washed and waxed, even though I did a fair bit of off roading in Colorado and Arizona with the '00.   Even with 170k miles, my '00 Grand Cherokee was still presentable when I traded it on the '14 Grand Cherokee I have now.  The '14 had 25k when I bought in '17, has 82k now.  The '14 I bought in Arizona right before I moved back to Ohio.

My XJ is beginning to succumb to rust, which is really sad (winter salt and brine on the roads is a killer). It is creeping into "winter beater" territory. I envy those of you with rust-free Jeeps. On the other hand, I'll have an excuse to learn how to weld, haha.

Around here the way to tell if a Wrangler model Jeep is used properly is to look on the top of the dashboard for little toy ducks. Seems like so many people are putting these little toy ducks on peoples Wranglers, at least the ones that have never ventured further of road that the parking lot at the Socker Field.

My spouse was given a Wrangler by Enterprise while in New York 3 years ago. It got "ducked" at a lake somewhere upstate. The duck is right next to me on the bookshelf.

People are doing a similar thing with cows and Subarus. "Moo-moo, Subaru."

I've seen plenty of Wranglers w/ a row of ducks on the dash...my GC has never been 'ducked', seems to be strictly Wranglers and Gladiators.  Same with the Jeep wave.

Went shopping with my wife today and saw a newer, showroom stock style never been off-road Wrangler Rubicon cruising the parking lot with the top of the dash covered with ducks. What is the fascination with these toy ducks?

That’s so weird about the ducks.Hobby Lobby had a bunch of little yellow rubber ducks in their “man cave area”,car signs,etc,those familiar with Hobby Lobby.They’re spreading all over the place here in NY.Anyway,I’ve owned a few Jeeps,XJs only though.After reading this,now I realize the whole “duck” thing.Wonder where or how that got started.Hmmm🤔And of course they took JP magazine off the news stand.Actually not sure,but I think the really “only” ALL Jeep magazine.🤨

It's really harmless and in a way it is strangers complimenting your vehicle. The duck that was placed on my spouse's rental is a unicorn duck. I'm a gonna start an internet trend that involves placing plastic 💩on Neons and calling it "Poo Poo Neon." Unfortunately, I don't think I have seen a Neon on the road for like five years or more, so it may take a while to disperse a bag of plastic 💩 around here. 🤣

And I got the placement year wrong. The duck is dated 2021, so it is an early model Jeep Duck.

I have a Neon. I neither need nor want a stranger's "compliment", or an oh-so-clever stranger calling it poo.

We live in a world where too many boundaries that used to be defined by respect for other people's property are pushed past the point of civility.

Some little zero puts anything on my car, any of my cars, if I catch 'em in the act, they'll wish they hadn't.
